Review since January Newsletter
Hi there JLMS families, do you feel like a professional snow remover yet? Wisconsin winter is in full force but that hasn't stopped Sophia Verplanke, Shane McAllister, Taylor King, Jared Todd, Caitlyn Kenney, Caleb Kempfer, Lauren Kuss, and Dylan Johnson from being recognized as our newest students of the month! A big congrats goes out to them on all their hard work at JLMS.
Since our last newsletter, we completed winter MAP testing and had students review their goals from fall and set new goals for spring (which can't come soon enough) during an ACP SOAR time. Our school wide goals for the year also relate to MAP as well. Our reading goal is to have 50% of all students meet or exceed their projected growth in reading. In math, we would like 75% of each grade level to meet the following RIT score: 225 for 6th grade, 230 for 7th grade, 235 for 8th grade.
Our PBIS team identified academic responsibility for coming to class prepared with homework completed as a focus for students. We created a PBIS video to kickoff this focus and if we reach 500 Falcon Feathers for responsibility, the school can earn an incentive day on Thursday, February 21 during the 1/2 day. If you would like to view the video you can scroll to the bottom of this newsletter to see the embedded video.
I want to recognize the Music Department and Music Parents for putting on a wonderful Chili Day on Saturday, February 2. It is always great to see the hard work and talent our students put into their music at the Grafton School District. Every year I am amazed by the superb musical performances that our students provide.
Thank you to all the families that participated in the Firehouse Dinner Night. It is always fun to serve the food and help raise funds for the JLMS PTG. Our next dinner fundraiser night will be April 9 at Noodles & Company. These are easy nights to feed your family and support JLMS students too!
