Mustang Stampede: Thursday, May 25th
The Mustang Stampede (aka field day) is Thursday, May 25th. Here are a few suggestions to ensure this exciting day is enjoyed by all.
- What to wear? Please send your student(s) to school in comfortable clothing as well as athletic shoes with socks, as there will be 3 inflatables (an obstacle course, a jump house and a large slide) as part of the rotation.
- Sun protection: Sunscreen should be applied at home and hats may be worn.
- What if it rains? The fun must go on! Please note that it gets warm inside the gym so please take this into consideration when selecting clothing.
- Please make sure your child comes to school with a water bottle. Popsicles will also be served.
G.L.O.W 5K: Thank You!
Mill Street came in 3rd place with 90 participants registered and was awarded with a $550 gift card to Anderson's Book Store!
Thank you to all of the families and staff members who came out to support this important cause.
Volunteer Opportunities for the 2023/24 School Year
Mill Street is fortunate to offer many areas of enrichment, appreciation and education for our students and staff. This wouldn't be possible if it weren't for our wonderful parent volunteers. Below are committees looking for help in the coming school year. Please consider offering some of your time, you can make a difference!
If you have any questions regarding chairing a committee or would like to volunteer, please email millstreeths@gmail.com.
- Appreciation (1 person) Recognize and appreciate teachers and staff on various appreciation days as determined by District 203.
- Book Fair (2 people) Help organize and coordinate fall and winter book fairs held October 9-11, 2023 and March 4-6, 2024. We need assistance during the fairs themselves which occur during the school day. You do not need to be available all of the days, but should be available for some of them at both of the book fairs.
- Mill Street Cares (1 person) Mill Street Cares offers support to our Mill Street families and staff who may be going through difficult times. When the school social workers or nurse identifies a critical need, Mill Street Cares is notified of the need, no names are mentioned, and there is strict confidentiality. This committee is also responsible for organizing, alongside our community partners, our Mill Street Cares bags. These food bags go home with families right before long breaks.
- Mill Street Grows (1-2 people) Have a green thumb? We need you!
- Raffle Night (2 people) Help coordinate donations from staff and local businesses for this beloved event. Sell raffle tickets in advance and help run the raffle tables during Open House (end of January).
- Science Club (2 people) Plan and implement Science Club experiments and labs for grades 3-5.
- Yearbook (3-4 people) If you are interested in being part of creating the book that holds your child's lifelong memories (and yours!), please consider being part of the yearbook committee. There are opportunities for people to be a part of the action in school or behind the scenes at home. Please click here for more details.
2023/24 School Supply Kits
Please remember to order the supply kit for the grade your child will be entering for the 2023-2024 school year.
