Grading Window- Extended
Families will be able to retrieve their grades online at homelink- paper versions will only be mailed out by request.
Please remember that these grades should only reflect work and assessments ASSIGNED on or before March 13th. We do encourage teachers to allow for flexibility in work coming in, as far as accepting late work for those assignments, given the sudden circumstances for students and the many that had already started staying home from school before the order was given.
Please also remember to use the R code, "In Danger of Failing" if a student is indeed in that high risk range.
While we don't know what the rest of the school year holds, we do operate under the assumption that teachers will have the opportunity to formulate a semester grade, should the year end without returning to school. Thus, adjustments to the final grade could occur in that event.
Office hours
Teachers are expected to communicate an hour during which they will be available solely to students for questions and assistance. This hour should be unique to other work duties during the school day, and should be available to all students (we don't recommend delineating hours per class, but to be available to all of your students during a window of time.)
We would like to be able to communicate all hours to the NHS community.

This week at NHS
- Kelly and Craig will be scheduling meetings with the departments under their purview for a check in and to provide support. Please make every effort to attend!
- This week begins office hours for every teacher, every day, as outlined in the MDEA MOU with the district. Additionally, students should expect roughly 4 hours of work per class, per week, beginning this week.
- We are sending out a sign up form for students who might need to check out a chromebook. If you know of any such students, feel free to let us know so that we can reach out to them personally.
- If you need to get in the building for any reason, please text Kelly or Craig so that we can arrange to open up for you.
- Let us know if you have any issues with google, or other platforms you are using to reach out to students. Please try to engage them weekly not just with assignments, but with your support and lessons and your connection that you have worked to build so far with them. A google meet/zoom session will go far in giving them a feeling of connection that may be lacking right now as they settle into their second week without their peers and their teachers.
Successes and Celebrations!
- Kudos and huge thank you to Rosie Reid, who has pulled together with Cori Starr some student mentors to connect and assist struggling students during this time.
- To Cori and Carolyn Moore, for their initiative and quick action in gathering surplus supplies to donate to the local hospitals- 78 boxes of gloves, 7 goggles, and 2 boxes of masks- your work, community spirit and leadership are so appreciated!
- To Craig Bocks, for gathering so much information and so many resources to very quickly provide support to our staff as they move online.

Next Board meeting is in April, and it may be virtual.
There are 8 more school days through the current scheduled school suspension. Teachers are providing instruction online to their students, and we are working as a district to ensure students have online access, checking out chromebooks where needed. Resources are posted on the district website and updated frequently.
Custodial groups are being re-trained on sanitation and procedures should opening occur; They will be engaging in a level 3 cleaning before anyone is allowed to be on campus again on a regular basis.

We hope you’ll be able to enjoy your time a home a bit more with this playlist

Thank you!
From Rula - Database Access
Dear All,
I know that Craig posted the attached instructions on the new NHS Distant Learning site under "Content." If you are using Google Classroom or any other distant learning portal, do you mind uploading and adding these slides to the platform so students have the login information and can access ALL our databases?
Thank you - and please let me know if you'd rather I just shared the file with you directly to your .net account.
