Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Herring...

As an original Travis Tiger since the school's inception in 2006, Mrs. Herring has inspired thousands of children, helped hundreds of families and been the heartbeat of one of Fort Bend's finest institutions. This community has been blessed for 14 years with the talents of Mrs. Herring. She has embodied the Travis Way in her different roles at THS while promoting scholarship, student leadership, and the family culture that we all enjoy today. Mrs. Herring will be moving on to the next chapter of her life at week's end. She has forged a great legacy, established enduring memories, and touched many lives. We, as the Tiger Family, would like to wish Mrs. Herring good luck on her new journey and of course: ONCE A TIGER, ALWAYS A TIGER!

Positive Office Referrals

The Positive Office Referral should be used when a teacher wishes to reward a student for something academic or behavioral. This differs from the ROAR award in that Positive Office referrals can be issued at any time and for any positive behavior worthy of reward. The ROAR award is for students working hard over a period of time and producing academic results. To submit a Positive Office Referral, CLICK HERE. Students that receive a POR will be called in by an administrator and will also be awarded 25 Tiger Pride points!

Teacher toolkit

Here is a sneak peak of what you're clicking on, thanks to MRS. FRANCO!

  • Having our students talk to one another is not just something that’s necessary for them to master the content in our classes. It’s also necessary for them to grow communication skills that technology has stunted. By now, we’re all experiencing many different classroom personalities. Some of them won’t talk to each other, and some of them won’t stop talking to each other. However, if we want to help our students grow, we need to make sure we’re including purposeful talk into our lesson plans. If you ask the teachers around you, I’m sure they’re willing to share how they get their students to engage with one another and stay on topic, but if you need a little extra help, consider the following:

    · Think Time: If students immediately start talking and are off topic OR you ask them to start talking and no one does, they might need time to process what you’re asking them to talk about. Consider going over the discussion question or topic and tell them they have 30 seconds of silent thinking time before they begin talking to one another.
