Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, updated the Board on a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the public:

FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
Dr. Bein updated the Board of Education on the progress related to the Full Day Kindergarten programming expected to open in August 2024. This is something Dr. Bein and District 25 Administrators plan to do regularly.
The update at this meeting touched on the following items:
- Bond Sale Update
- Classroom Information - Confirmed number of classrooms needed is 25
- Architectural Plans - Slight changes to Olive and Westgate
- Construction Status Update - Review of what has already been done to prepare for the construction projects down the road.

9. STUDENT LEARNING

KEEPING YOUTH SAFE AND HEALTHY ACT
District 25's Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, presented the Board with information about the recently passed Keeping Youth Safe and Healthy Act. This Act identified several learning standards for grades K-8 that are aimed at empowering students in all grades with the information they need to recognize abuse, make empowered choices, and form healthy relationships.
Dr. Bein informed the Board that District 25’s health curriculum is not changing. The District will continue to provide its yearly health curriculum program at 5th grade and at 8th grade. These programs are already aligned with the Illinois and National Health standards. Dr. Bein reiterated that the District does not plan to provide any of the related instruction at any other grades.

SIXTH DAY ENROLLMENT REPORT
District 25's Assistant Superintendent of Personnel & Planning, Dr. Brian Kaye, presented the Board of Education with the sixth day enrollment numbers for District 25.

Public Comments
Anyone who wishes to make a public comment can do so, in-person, at our Board of Education meetings. The Board hosts two public comment opportunities on their agenda: 1) at the beginning of the meeting, prior to any agenda items, 2) at the end of the meeting after the agenda items have been discussed/presented.
