SIP and DIP Flexibility
- We are not required to submit SIPs or DIPs in Assist this year (but see my interpretation below)
- We are not required to submit Title IA Plans in Assist this year
- As previously communicated, we are not required to submit Program Evaluations in Assist this year
- We will still need to complete the TISS and Consolidated Application
Some interpretation from Dave:
I think the "not required to submit DIPs in Assist" will really only apply if you are not changing your consolidated application. My interpretation is that, if you do make changes to your consolidated app, this will need to be reflected in your DIP. You will have until September 30 to complete this. I am referencing this section of the memo:
- "The 2019-20 SBDIPS and DIPs will be used for the approval of the 2020-21 consolidated application for federal Title funds. If necessary, the 2019-20 DIP or SBDIP may be revised up until September 30, 2020. Consolidated applications and budgets should reflect any revised plan updates."
This is an evolving situation, so please stay connected to MDE communications and your statewide organizations for updated information. If you do plan on making changes to your Consolidated Application, it is always best to reach out to your MDE field service rep for guidance.
CARES and GEER Update
You may have also heard about GEER (Governor’s Emergency Education Relief) funding. This is a separate funding source that will not be handled through the MDE. Since it is not handled through the MDE, there will likely be a separate application process that will not be in MEGS+.
As of this writing (5/1/20), there are many unanswered questions. A definitive source and history of information can be found at this continuously updated GoogleDoc that is being maintained by the State and Federal Leaders in Oakland County.
Online Regional Spring Workshop with MDE - May 15th
I am meeting with the MDE to get some of the logistics planned next week. I'm not yet sure if the format will allow for recording of the event.
