Eagleswood Elementary School
The Eagle Review - October Edition
Almost Done!
Excitement is building here at Eagleswood Elementary! Our project is almost complete. The final phase of our project is resurfacing the playground and the students cannot wait to get outside to try it out! Construction crews are still working in the evening to take care of all the little things that need to be done. Our hope is for final completion no later than mid-November. At that time, we will invite the entire community to our school to see the final product! So save the date – November 15th for our Open House. Tours will be given from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you plan to visit the school, please have your license with you. We have a new system in place that will scan all driver licenses to increase the security and safety. Again, we want to thank the community for their support of the building project and look forward to seeing you on November 15th!
Please join me in thanking our Business Administrator, Allison Bogart. The amount of time, effort and attention to detail that made this project a success was paramount in the timely completion and quality of the work done in our building. Words cannot express how truly grateful we all are for her expertise and dedication!
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Back to School Night is always exciting! Parents get to meet their child’s teacher and the enthusiasm for the new school year is prevalent throughout the building. This year there was extra excitement because it was the first time parents could see the new addition and other work done throughout the building. Our evening began with inspiring words from our Board President, Sue D’Ambrosio. She thanked the community, staff, and our Business Administrator for all coming together for the good of our children.
The Art/Music Room was the highlight. You could hear parents saying, “Wow! I wish I had a room like this when I was in school!” A goal at Eagleswood Elementary School is to teach the basics through arts integration and hands-on learning. The Art and Music Room, Science Lab, and now the availability to use our library again only as a library and not share it as a classroom help us achieve our goals.
A Note from the Board President
As you know the theme for our district this year is “TEAM.” How fitting, as we celebrate the new addition and improvements made to our school. I believe wholeheartedly that the number one reason our little school district is as great as it is, is because we do work together as one team. You see, a school community is not just about teachers and students. It’s about parents, teachers, administrators, residents, businesses and local leaders joining together with a common vision – educating our children to become leaders in their own right.
In Eagleswood, we do that every single day. Our teachers teach, challenge, enlighten and nurture. Our parents are active advocates for their sons and daughters, as well as their friends and classmates. Our school board and administration work to clear pathways and establish an environment that is safe, engaging and top of the line! And the rest of our town – our neighbors, businesses and local leaders all stand behind us and take up our causes.
Thanks to this team – our children are having healthy hot meals in a state of the art cafeteria. Thanks to this team – the simple comforts of a warm building in the winter and a cool building in the summer – can be enjoyed by all. Thanks to this team – children and grownups with special needs can enter and use our ADA compliant facility. Thanks to this team – our children can expand their minds, their creativity and their horizons in new classrooms that are built for STEAM! And thanks to this team, students who need special assistance can enjoy learning in our two new specialized classrooms.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every member of “Team Eagleswood” for sharing their time, talents and treasures to help our little town’s children to learn, grow and achieve! We are a Winning Team!
Thank you Atlantic City Electric!

Pre-K in Computers
The Pre-K class was very excited to enter the computer lab during the first week of school. The students will have computers every Wednesday and are looking forward to jumping into the world of technology!
Spending Some Time in Our New Science Lab
2nd Grade's Science Lab
The 2nd grade class used observations as evidence to explain how an object made of a small set of pieces can be taken apart and made into a new object using marble track pieces.
5th Grade's First Hands-On Lab
The goal of our 5th grade class was to see how much weight an object can support by itself. They made predictions, recorded and analyzed their data, and drew conclusions based on their findings!
6th Grade Bridge Building & Escape Room
6th grade engineers designed paper bridges in the "new" science room, and also participated in a team-building escape room activity!
