Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln born on February 12, 1809. he grew up to become the 16th president of the United States. When he became president and the south knew what he wanted to do. He did not believe in slavery and he wanted to abolish it. Some people did not agree with his decisions and wanted to kill him he eventually got assassinated by John Wilks Booth
Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis was born on June,3 1808. He was raised in Mississippi. He after his wife died he moved back to Mississippi and had a farm and he became a slaveholder. so when the north decided that slaves were not right he withdrew from Washington and joined the confederacy. He was the first and last president of the Confederate states of America.
Ulysses S. Grant
Ulysses S. Grant was born on April,27 1822.He was the united state 18th president. But before the he led the union army during the Civil War. He was president during the Re-Construction era. He helped to bring the north and the south back together again. After his term he retired and went bankrupt.
Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee was a general for the confederate army. After the war was over he became president of Washington university. the university is now called Washington and lee university. He died in Lexington on October 12, 1870. and his last words were "strike the tent" he died of heart Disease.
William Carney
William Carney was born in 1840. He was born in Virginia and he born into slavery. But he got away from it and he became the first African American General for the United States. And he obviously fought for ne union.
Philp Bazar
Phillip Bazaar was a Chilean immigrant and he was a resident of he was known for being a member of the Navy during the Civil War. He was awarded the Congressional medal in 1865 for his bravery.
Julia Ward Howe
Julia Ward Howe was born in New York City in 1819. She wrote books about other people. she was not afraid to judge them. Some people refer to her as "the Queen of America". she died in Portsmouth Rhode island in 1910.
John Wilks Booth
John Wilks Booth killed the 16th president which was Abraham Lincoln. He did not agree with most of the things he said. He decided that if he kills him than all of this stuff will go away, but they obviously did not. He was the first person to successfully assassinate a president.
William T. Sherman
William T. Sherman was born in Ohio in 1820. He was famous for his leadership skills in the Civil War. He was a successful General for the South. After the war he refused to run for president. He died in new York in 1891.
Last Is "Stonewall"Jackson
Stone Wall Jackson was not really Jacksons name. he got that nickname because he was as tough as a stone wall. Physically and emotionally. His real name was Thomas. He was born on January 21, 1824. He was a General during the Civil War. He died on March 10, 1863.
