Principal's Message
Hello Diley families!
All classes have completed their Reading and Math i-Ready diagnostic assessments. There are still some absent students who will need to make up their tests, but the majority of students are finished. In addition, students will be receiving their diagnostic data to share with you at home. Please be on the lookout for that later in the week. Classes have already started to analyze their data by having data chats. Students will base their goals on what they need to grow in. Please make sure to celebrate the successes with them at home and encourage them to keep going!!!
This week also starts the "Are you Ready For i-Ready Challenge"! We will report the school's progress weekly until the challenge is over. Students will be assigned new i-Ready lessons to begin based on their understanding of the content in their assessments. The building has a goal of completing 9,250 lessons within our 10-week calendar. This is a realistic goal and very doable. :)
This week teams will continue to focus on lessons about Respect, Emotional Regulation, and a Sense of Belonging. This week's lesson is “Respect Agreements”

We will open the doors at 5:30 PM. Please enter through the doors of the cafeteria. The meeting will take place in the auxiliary gym. If you are attending the first session we are going to ask that you leave after the session concludes so we can prepare for the next session.

A note from the nurse
Immunization Requirements for Students Entering Grade 7
Per the Ohio Department of Health, all students entering grade 7 must show proof of vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap vaccine) and meningococcal disease (MCV4 vaccine).
You may take the following document with you to your doctor to use as documentation of these vaccinations, or you may submit an immunization report with the dates of
both vaccinations. Please return this documentation as soon as possible to your child’s school nurse. If this is not provided during the grade 6 school year, you will need to send this information to the junior high that your child will attend prior to the beginning of the next school year. The middle school nurses will forward all immunization documentation received to the junior high nurses at the end of this year.
Souper Bowl 23
Our building will be competing in our own version of the Super Bowl. All homerooms will be participating in the Souper Bowl as we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items (I.E. - SOUP CANS).
Every 10 items brought in will earn that homeroom 1 raffle ticket. The homeroom with the winning raffle ticket will win a pizza party.
Announcements will begin next week. Donations will first start to be collected on Monday, January 23rd. The last day for donations will be Friday, February 10th, just before the Super Bowl.
Winners will be announced the following week!
All donations will go to our Local Pickerington Food Pantry

From the Superintendent regarding possible Snow Days
As the weather in Ohio continues to get colder, I would like to share how the district will handle calamity days if in-person classes need to be canceled due to inclement weather. Calamity days this winter will be good old-fashioned snow days. Students will not be expected to learn virtually.
We strive to make the decision to delay or close by 5:30 a.m. or earlier so that we can notify radio and TV stations, post to the district website, and send electronic notices to emergency announcement subscribers.
Unusual weather conditions may force us to make the decision after this time. For that reason, parents and students are advised to stay tuned to major television and radio stations, as well as our website and e-communications notices, for updates.
Once a decision is made to delay or cancel, the information will be shared with parents and the media as quickly as possible. You can read more about calamity day procedures on our website at https://oh50010917.schoolwires.net/Page/98.
Please check the Infinite Campus portal to ensure that your contact information is accurate so that you will receive closing/delay notifications in a timely manner, and that you will receive the messages via your preferred method(s) of delivery (text, phone call, email, etc.).
Thank you! The first official day of winter is Dec. 21st!
