Way to go PUE Girls on the Run!!

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 11-DECEMBER 15, 2017

FIRST GRADE GLOBAL PROJECTS:

Lots of great First Grade Global Projects being shared this past week. Check out this YouTube about Italy from Mrs. Parrish's class.

STATE REPORT CARDS POSTED: PLEASANT UNION SHINES:

Pleasant Union's State Report Card for the 2016-17 school year was outstanding. Our student growth was among the highest in Wake County and the state. Go to Report Cards to see how we did and compare to other schools in the state. This is a tribute to our excellent teachers and support from our parents to ensure that our students are successful. Well done Pleasant Union!!

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS: Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jenny Leavitt. Her grandfather passed away last Monday.

MUSIC PERFORMANCES- Pay close attention to Ms. Freer's emails regarding music performances. If you have specials for gym or music during assembly times, contact Ms. Fricke/specialist. There are two music performances in the GYM next Thursday: 1st grade tracks 2 and 4 from 11:45-12:25 and Kindergarten tracks 2 and 4 from 1:15-1:50.

HOLIDAY SOCIAL:

Thanks to our Social Committee for setting up for this Friday's Social. We hope that everyone will make every effort to be there. This is a great opportunity for all of us to just relax and with our peers and in many cases their spouses and friends.

SECURITY- If you have valuables in your classrooms, please secure them. Things to secure: money/wallets/pocketbooks, phones, electronics, private information (special education data, grades, socioeconomic or demographic information, medical data) and IDs/keys. LOCK your door when leaving your classroom. CLOSE your window when leaving your classroom. DO NOT prop open doors.

LEARNING EXPERIENCES/GUEST SPEAKERS/ALTERNATIVE LOCATIONS: Remember to inform the office if you have an activity that us not part of your usual day or you are going someone out of the ordinary with your class. If you have a speaker fill out a guest speaker form and get permission ahead of time so we can verify the speaker through security. Carry a radio with you at recess and other locations outside of your classroom if you have one. When we need to contact you it is IMPORTANT that we know where you are and can contact you in a timely manner. Parents lose confidence in us when they come to get their children and we can't find the class/student.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: Baby it's getting cold out there! Make sure that you know the inclement weather policies for WCPSS.

WINTER BREAK PREPARATION: If you have a refrigerator in your classroom DEFROST it and CLEAN IT OUT this week.

Before leaving for break all teachers should:

  • Unplug lights
  • Unplug refrigerators and LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN (make sure you defrosted it earlier,)
  • Remove all food from the classroom (all open food should be thrown away- all closed food should be reinforced in bags.)
  • Unplug all coffee makers and remove all open coffee products
  • Shut all windows and doors
  • Close blinds
  • Secure electronics and other items of value
