Note from Principal Rahill

Dear DeSales Families,

Thank you for the terrific response to the security survey sent out last week. For those that offered to help with the security committee, I will send an email after school gets out to set up a meeting over the summer. For one of the questions, many people indicated they did not know what our security procedures are. Our current security procedure is to have the main office door as a single point of entry once the school day has begun with all doors being locked at all times. Visitors have to be buzzed in by the office staff, sign in at the office, and wear a visitor's sticker. We also have many enhancements to the building itself to increase the safety of our students and staff, such as cameras in the interior and exterior of the school.

The Diocese of Buffalo School Superintendent, Dr. Timothy Uhl, also has his staff and school principals working on some initiatives to enhance a positive school culture. First, we’re planning to develop a monthly character trait next year and honor students across the Diocese who demonstrate good character such as hospitality, manners, sportsmanship. We want to teach and celebrate positive behavior and make our schools nicer places.

Our second initiative is launching more sports and activities for all students. We’re interested in getting more students involved with emphases on fun, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. We’d like to offer activities such as bowling, chess, and kickball to get more students involved. Our STREAM department will be offering a science fair, math competitions, spelling bee, and other academic contests. We want to connect more students to their schools and to each other.

I am very excited about these possibilities for next year. Thank you again for all your support in helping DeSales be a safe and welcoming environment for our children.

God bless,

Karen Rahill, Principal

Attention 7th Grade Families - Volunteers Needed

It has been a long standing tradition at DeSales that the 7th Grade families help with Graduation Breakfast and 8th Grade Graduation. We are looking for a few 7th grade parents to help with both events.

We are in need a few parents to set up a hot coffee station, set cold drinks, food and fruit on the tables, etc. on Thursday June 23rd at 8:00am for the Graduation Breakfast. All tables will be set up the evening before. We also need assistance once the breakfast is over to help with clean up and take down. If you are able to help out, please click on the link below to sign up.

8th Grade Graduation is held at St. John’s Church here in Lockport on Thursday June 23rd at 7:00 pm. There is a small reception in the church hall (basement area) immediately following the mass/ceremony. We need a few parents to help set up tables, food/water and to assist with clean up after this event as well.
