A Word from Mrs. Stephie
Hello Speech Families and welcome holiday break! Early in December, we talked about all things gingerbread. We visited with gingerbread people of all shapes and sizes, including gingerbread boys, girls, and houses. We all know gingerbread cookies like to run as as fast as they can, so speech and language activities focused on different places and locations they like to visit as well actions and activities they participate in. We matched gingerbread people to same size houses and cookie sheets, sorted and categorized, labeled and identified different actions and activities, used visual supports to help create and decorate a large gingerbread man, made felt board gingerbread men, and placed gingerbread people all around a gingerbread village. Have fun making and decorating gingerbread cookies at home with your children. Cooking and baking activities allow for multiple opportunities to be creative, follow directions, sequence, expand vocabulary, and more importantly, spend time together. Have fun and enjoy! Don't forget to check your child's daily folder for my weekly speech sheet for additional information.
