International Moment of Laughter Day
International Moment of Laughter Day is a day to remind people to laugh out loud every day. Originator Izzy Gesell says laughing out loud is as essential as breathing. He says, “Laughter comes right after breathing as just about the healthiest thing you can do. It relieves stress, instills optimism, raises self-confidence, defuses resistance to change, and enhances all your relationships.”
National Dolphin Day
National Dolphin Day recognizes the social and intelligent mammals of the water. They are found worldwide, mostly in shallow seas of the continental shelves, and are carnivores, mostly eating fish and squid. Dolphin coloration varies, but they are generally gray in color with darker backs than the rest of their bodies.
Look Up At the Sky Day
Look Up At The Sky Day encourages us to admire the beauty above us. On this day we all hope for good weather and an opportunity to fill our eyes with the sky from horizon to horizon. There are many things that you can see as you sit back, relax and look up.

Cloud-Gazing: Learn Your Cloud Types
This short article from Seeker, Cloud-Gazing: Learn Your Cloud Types, provides an overview of common cloud types you're likely to see in the sky. The Cloud Types page from the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research has more detailed information about different types of clouds. Do a little cloud-gazing for Look Up At the Sky Day and email me or your science teacher about what you see!
Stellarium
Stellarium is an online planetarium app available as a mobile app or web app that runs in your browser. Stellarium has been called the "Gold Standard" for functional field astronomy. A great tool to try out tonight for Look Up At the Sky Day!
Yesterday's Winner
Who would win: A zombie with a samurai sword and that can match opponent's size OR A sabre-toothed tiger that is a piñata armed with a shotgun? Winner: Zombie. Reasons: "Size can play a huge factor in a fight," and "If you can break open a piñata with a baseball bat, then I’m sure you can break one with a samurai sword," and "the zombie would win because it can’t die because it is already dead."
