Boxer Bark
September 4, 2020
Message from the Escobedo MS Principal
Each week, I will send out a newsletter to parents called “The Boxer Bark." It will provide information from the current week, upcoming important dates, and information. I know that these past few weeks preparing for distance learning have been stressful for many of our families, and I hope that some of those concerns have been alleviated now that distance learning is underway. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teachers and/or their school counselor with any questions or ways they can help your child adapt to the classroom. Please also feel free to email me, and I will help address your questions or forward your message to the person who can best assist.
Enjoy the long weekend and stay safe!

Map Testing at Home
As we continue into the semester with distance learning, it is important for us to gather meaningful data to assess learning gaps from the COVID-19 pandemic that will help our teachers make effective instructional decisions for our student body.
To retrieve this information, students will take the MAP test, which is an adaptive assessment that occurs three times a year (fall, winter, and spring). Adaptive means that the test will increase in difficulty as students get answers correct and will decrease in difficulty as students do not answer correctly. Please do not worry if your child gets a question that is too hard or too easy or if they are getting asked questions about something they have never learned.
MAP Testing for Escobedo Middle School is scheduled for the following dates:
- September 14-15 (Reading)
- September 16-17 (Math)
- September 18 (make-up testing)
Please visit the following links to provide you with more information about the MAP assessment:

More information will be sent out soon regarding device compatibility, instructions, and testing guidelines.
Report Cards & Progress Reports
This year report cards will not be printed and mailed home. Parents/guardians will access report cards and progress reports via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (Campus Patent.) In order, the access your child's report cards or progress reports parents/guardians will need to login to Campus Parent. The parents/guardians will select by the Documents Tab on the Index Menu. This method will allow parents immediate access to review their student's progress and grades.
At this time, approximately 90% of the parents/guardians in the District have activated their access to Campus Parent. If a parent/guardian does not have Campus Parent, please refer to the instructions by clicking here to create an account. Instructions to access Campus Parent can be found by clicking here.
