Pillar 2: Service
Our State Service Project: Bert's Big Adventure
These are the programs you would be helping if your council raised money for Bert's Big Adventure:
The Walt Disney World Trip Program is the original program in which each year, the organization provides a magical five-day, all-expenses-paid journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. From the limo rides and chartered flight to the character-filled parties and princess makeovers, the trip is nothing short of magical. Throughout the trip, each family is accompanied by a Bert’s Big Adventure liaison, allowing them to get the most out of their once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- The Fairy Godparent Volunteer Program supports the organization's families when a Bert's Big Adventure child is admitted to a partner hospital. The Fairy Godparent volunteers visit the children daily and provide magical moments during a trying time.
- The Reunion Adventure Program is an attempt by the organization to further strengthen its established communities and friendships. These exclusive and unique events provide the families with year-round opportunities to enjoy more VIP experiences and intimate family time away from doctor visits and hospital stays.
A family can face copious, unforeseen financial struggles when a child is diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness. Through the Other Charitable Services Program, Bert's Big Adventure helps families in need fill this financial gap during trying times.

Pillar 4: Connections
Humans of GASC
Riley McNeil
Position: Vice President
School: Grayson High School
Grade: 12th
Mentor: "My biggest mentor in life is my mom. From a very young age, it was my mom who taught me to treat people with nothing but kindness because “you never know what’s going on in their lives and what even a small act can do” and she has inspired me to become the person I am today," Riley says.
Riley McNeil is Senior at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. She currently serves as one of this year's Vice Presidents. Throughout her student career, Riley's most notable achievements include being voted Homecoming Queen, serving as a Student Relations Pillar Leader, organizing Homecoming and Sadie Hawkins Dances, and serving as a GASC Vice President School Representative. Through her council, Riley has received the Rising Star Award, Junior Member of the Year, and GASC BLAST! Member of the Year. Riley says her favorite GASC Memory was attending GASC for the first time when she was in 10th grade. "It was my first time attending the convention and our whole council came to Rock Eagle a day early to begin setting up and getting our convention ready for the other delegates. We were split into groups with jobs for the day and my friends and I were put in charge of T-shirt sorting. It turned out that we were not only sorting shirts, but also putting together and organizing name tags, colored bandanas, travel bags, and pens for every delegate and every school and every district. We finished nine hours later and were known for the rest of that year as the “Super Sophomores” by our Studco buddies and advisors. It was the first time I became involved in GASC and it was the first time that I found myself leading a Studco project and, despite the hours of labor, it will be a memory I will look back at fondly, and also thankfully because it’s now over, for years to come!" Riley says.
Colton Johnson
Position: Crowd Compass App Consultant
School: Lambert High School
Grade: 12th
Favorite Quote(s): “Success isn’t how much money you make but how much of a difference you make in people’s lives.”: Michelle Obama
Colton Johnson is a Senior at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia. He currently serves as the Crowd Compass App Consultant. Throughout his student career, Colton's most notable accomplishments include serving as the GASC Journal School Representative in 2017, serving as the Lambert High School Spanish Honors Society President, and being a Lambert Varsity Swimmer for all four years of High School. Colton says his favorite GASC Memory was sprinting after lanterns that were about to land in the woods at the last lantern lighting at GASC 2017.
Pillar 5: Democratic Principles
2019-2020 GASC Executive Board
Pillar 6: Advisor Development
Advisor of the Month
The GASC Advisor of the month is Mrs. Teresa Carver from Thomas County Central High School. Along with being the Student Council Advisor at Thomas County Central, Mrs. Carver is also the PAGE advisor and liaison for her department. Mrs. Carver also participates in numerous Southern Baptist Conventions around the state. Students at Thomas County Central believe she is an amazing role model because she exemplifies what a servant leader looks like, sounds like, and acts like. Likewise, students say that she will support her fellow teammates tooth and nail to ensure everyone is rightfully served and taken care of. "Mrs. Carver is a diligent and persistent woman who cares greatly for those around her. She leads by example and most definitely embodies the characteristics of a selfless leader. Mrs. Teresa Carver is an all-around superlative. Servant leadership is one of the most amazing styles of leadership and Mrs. Carver continues to add validity to this statement every year," Caleb Moore, a student at Thomas County Central, says. On behalf of GASC, we would like to thank Mrs. Teresa Carver for her hard work and dedication.
