Back to School Newsletter - 2021

Edgemont Jr High

Big picture

Welcome to Edgemont!

We would like to welcome all students to Edgemont Junior High for the 2021-22 school year. Our plan is to start the year with a "normal" school schedule with the exception of the mandatory mask rule. All students will be required to wear masks while in the building and outside in crowded and confined areas. These measures are in place for the health and safety of all members of our campus. More information about our back to school procedures can be found on the district website using this link.

In mid-August, we sent summer informational packets to all families who we anticipated would return or transition to Edgemont for the 2021-22 school year. If you did not receive this packet, please see the attachment at the end of this newsletter.

Student Connection Day - September 1st

All students are welcome to our optional Student Connection Day on Wednesday, September 1st. The day will run from 7:20 am to 11:20 am. We highly encourage all new students to attend so they can get a look at the campus, meet the teachers, and get a preview of the coming school year. We ask that students attend the entire session. Transportation will be provided!

First Day of School - September 2nd

Just a reminder that our first day of school will be on Thursday, September 2nd. We look forward to seeing all of our Eagles on this day!

What Do Students Need for the 1st Day?

All students will need to bring a completed Puyallup Protection Plan (P3) form. This form can be found using this link.

Student Schedules

Families can find student schedules by visiting the Home Access Center (HAC) at this link.

Bus Routes - Infofinder

Just a reminder that families can view their bus routes by going to Infofinder on the district website.

Please be sure to enter your home address (don't use any periods or commas), zip code, and the school or grade, and then click the Search button.

In the Address Match tab next to the map, click your street address in the list.

On the tab on the left, three boxes appear showing the name of the school, the morning bus stop information (including the bus stop location, time, and bus number), and the afternoon bus stop information (including the time the bus arrives at that bus stop) are shown. The map also shows the location of your home and the closest bus stop. If you click the bus stop icon, the location and time of the bus stop appear.

Parent Drop-off and Pick-up

Families who choose to drop of their children by car, can do so in the Hilltop parking lot which is on the north side of the Edgemont campus. Please follow the signs posted on 110th avenue for the location. For health and safety purposes, we ask that students remain in their vehicles during the drop-off time until 10 minutes prior to the start of school.

Meal Service

For the 2021-22 school year, all students will receive free breakfast and lunch through our school district meal program. Students will be instructed on how to access this service on the first day of school.

Please note that due to this change, our kitchen will not be accepting any money.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

While meals will be free for all students in the fall, students and families can receive additional benefits if they qualify. Therefore, it is important that people apply or reapply if they have qualified in previous years. Access to this form can be found at this link.
