Congratulations Gifted Student of the Year, Menna Gebregziabher!
During this challenging school year, Menna says one of the most challenging parts has been separation from the classroom, but she says staying motivated is the key to her success. She says, "What I have done to succeed in the 'classroom' is working hard and staying motivated. When you really, truly work hard, you set your mind to something and you do it! It does not matter whether it is doing stats, or a quick write, the possibilities are endless." She says that with motivation and hard work you can do great things and reach your goals.
GCPS Plans for 2021
At the March 18 School Board meeting, district leaders discussed plans for Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) to return to in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year. You may read more about the plans in the Gwinnett County Public School's Communique' announcement.
On Monday, March 22, GCPS sent this information to families via SchoolMessenger. Only those families that wish to opt out of in-person learning for their students will need to complete the online form available in the Parent Portal. The deadline to submit the opt-out form is Sunday, April 4, at 11:59 p.m.
PTA's Boosterthon Fundraiser
This year, we are so excited about our Boosterthon fundraiser! We are raising $30,000 for technology and school resources at Brookwood Elementary! Your student can log onto funrun.com to get pledges from friends and family to help our school!
Next Wednesday, March 31st, we will get to celebrate all our hard work with our 80's themed Brookwood Break It Down Boogie Dance Fit at 2:15 pm! Digital students can pick up prizes on April 1 from 11:00am to 1:00 pm. Thank you for all your support, Brookwood families!
Speakers Needed for BES's Career Days
Each year, we provide an opportunity for our students to explore colleges and careers. This year our College and Career Days will be May 18-19, 2021. This will be a two-day virtual event where students will learn about various careers from speakers in the community. Speakers are asked to record a 3-5 minute video detailing a day in their chosen field. The linked document has the list of Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters that the students are exploring. If you are interested in presenting as a Career Day Speaker, please complete the Career Day form Please submit by April 2, 2021. Thank you in advance for helping to provide college and career readiness to our students.
Your School Counselors,
Angel Cunningham (K-2)
LaKendra Todd (3-5)

BHS Orchestra's Paint Can Recycling
Dispose of old paint the eco-friendly way!
Saturday, March 27
9 AM - 3 PM at Brookwood High
Most private disposal companies and county landfills charge higher fees to drop off waste and are not conveniently located. If you recycle at this drive, you'll also be supporting
Brookwood High School Orchestra. A portion of the drop-off fees collected will go to our program.
Fundraiser drop off fees (Cash, checks, or credit card):
• pint cans: $2
• spray cans: $2
• quart cans: $2
• 1-gallon cans: $5
• 2-gallon buckets: $10
• 5-gallon buckets: $25
Paint should be in the original container and should not be mixed with anything including other paint.
Collected paint ends up in Atlanta Paint Disposal’s facility in Lithia Springs, where they separate, bulk, and filter it into a quality, reusable paint product that can be donated to communities in our state for beautification projects. Past donations of have been distributed to Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Clubs, and more non-profits.
