¡Buenas tardes! En mis caminatas diarias o paseos en bicicleta por nuestro vecindario, los estudiantes y las familias me han saludado diciéndome que están emocionados por este año escolar y quiero compartir, nosotros también!

Quiero compartir un recordatorio y algunas fechas importantes:

Mañana es nuestro día de cuidado comunitario y recolección de latas de 10:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m. e inmediatamente después de 12:00 a 1:00 p. m. será nuestro sorteo de mochilas y almuerzo compartido. Así que... ven y únete a nosotros para ayudar a que nuestro campus brille para nuestros niños y trae las latas que quieras donar.

El primer día de clases para estudiantes en gardos 1st - 5th es Martes, 29 de agosto de 2023

Kindergarten Ramp Up será el 31 de agosto y el 1 de septiembre, con reuniones de maestros/familia el 29 y 30 de agosto. (Más información a seguir)

Familias para estudiantes en los grados 2 y 3: sus hijos recibirán un formulario de permiso para el examen dental/sellador en sus Paquetes de Bienvenida la primera semana de clases. Si desea que su hijo participe en el examen/sellador dental el 5 de septiembre, asegúrese de completar la hoja de permiso.No habrá clases el 4 de septiembre de 2023, Labor Day. Gracias a todos.

Por último, este año estamos buscando voluntarios para ayudar durante el almuerzo y el recreo de los estudiantes. Dear James John Families,

Good afternoon! In my daily walks or bike rides through our neighborhood I have been greeted by students and families telling me they are excited for this school year and I want to share, so are we!

I want to share a reminder and a few dates to keep on your radar:

Tomorrow is our Community Care Day and Can Collection from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and immediately afterwards from 12:00 to 1pm will be our backpack giveaway and potluck lunch. So… head on over and join us in helping make our campus shine for our kiddos and bring any cans you want to donate.

First day of school for students in grades 1st - 5th is Tuesday, August 29th, 2023

Kindergarten Ramp Up will be August 31st and September 1st, with teacher/family meetings beginning August 29th and 30th. (More information to follow)

Families for children in grades 2nd and 3rd - your children will be receiving a dental screener/sealant permission slip in their Welcome Back Packets the first week of school. If you want your child to participate in the dental screener/sealant on September 5th, please make sure to fill out the permission slip. There will be no school on September 4th, 2023, Labor day. Thank you all.

Lastly, this year we are looking for volunteers to help out during student lunches and recess. So if you find that you have some extra time and want to volunteer at our school, please drop by our office for more information or visit: https://www.pps.net/volunteer to sign up.

We wanted to offer an initial checklist to ease your transition back to school.

First and foremost, we need to know that we can reach you. Educators, school leaders and staff, and central office staff will communicate throughout the year about everything from classroom needs to school emergencies. Please complete the yearly student verification form to ensure we’re reaching you via the right contact information and in the right language. (Parents new to PPS will receive an email from their student’s school with instructions to get started.)

We would also encourage you to download the Remind app on your mobile device.

After updating your information, we would encourage you to consider:

• Have you reviewed the 23-24 calendar? You’ll find a PDF and translations on the right side of this webpage. Please make note of all holidays, days without school, vacation windows, etc.

• Have you made a school meal plan? You can apply for nutrition assistance, add money to your student’s account, or review school menus and other information here.

• Have you thought about how you will get to school? Learn more about bus transportation here, or explore Safe Routes to School here.

• Have you updated your child’s immunization records? You can do so here. The immunization form is available in several different languages on this page from the Oregon Health Authority.

• Have you reviewed the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook? With your student?

• Will you help beautify your school grounds? We’ll have clean-up days tomorrow (August 12) and next Saturday (August 19). For more information, visit the Project Community Care webpage.
