What's happening in choir this month!
Choir at BFJH is alive and well!! We started this year with almost DOUBLE the singers that were enrolled in choir last year. 14 singers prepared and recorded auditions for the Iowa Junior High Honor Choir – OPUS, the 7th grade choir and band are looking forward to hosting a Halloween party for our classmates with special needs in October, and we are all excited for our first concert of the year in December. This year we are again singing the anthem for an Iowa WILD game as well as for a HS basketball game and we will be caroling in December. As our program grows and our singing strengthens, we are looking forward to more sing-out opportunities in our community, at honor festivals and throughout the state!

Chess Club at the Junior High! Starts 9/12
It’s Chess time again! The game has been in existence for centuries, and is played around the world. Players develop skills in analysis, prediction, planning and reacting to adversity. And it’s a lot of fun too!
Chess club will meet in the Junior High School library at 7:30am on Tues. and Wed. Club will run until students are released to class at 7:58am. No attendance is taken. Students can play when they are able. There is no cost or sign up. Any junior high student may participate, from beginners to masters. We truly enjoy teaching the game.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Kinrade (kinradec@bfschools.org).
Coins for Kids-Coin Drive
The BFCSD School Counseling/Social Work Team is excited to announce that from September 5th-29th, 2023, we will be hosting the BFCSD “COINS FOR KIDS” Coin Drive!
COINS FOR KIDS is a fundraising opportunity taking place during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we will be partnering with/donating all collected funds to Make-A-Wish Iowa. This is an awesome opportunity to celebrate/honor BFCSD students who have been impacted by childhood cancer (as well as other major medical conditions) and support Make-A-Wish Iowa’s mission & vision – creating and granting life-changing wishes for local children with critical illnesses.
The WINN group that collects the most money in coins will have their choice of a free period or party.
Lunch Accounts
All lunch account payments can be managed through the Infinite Campus parent portal. If you have questions please email Christy Hahn.
Automatic Payments for School Meals
We'd like to inform you of a convenient way to manage your child's school meals account. Parents and guardians now have the option to set up automatic meal payments through Infinite Campus, our online platform. By enabling this feature, you can ensure that your child's meal account remains funded without the hassle of manual payments. To set up automatic payments, simply log in to your Infinite Campus account and (click here to) follow the instructions.
Thank you for your continued support in providing the best for our students.
Sports Physicals
This is an exciting time for young athletes of all experience levels. To be eligible for participation, the school needs you to:
- Complete the online Activity Registration. Here is the link to the Activity Registration Page.
- Submit a completed Iowa Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Examination form to the MS Office (either electronically or drop off a copy). Physical Form Link
No athlete is allowed to practice or compete until both of these steps have been completed. (The athlete is highly encouraged to attend practice to observe so that they are "up to speed" when they are deemed eligible.)

Booster Club Apparel Store
Our athletics booster club has launched a new online apparel store. This is a 24/7 store with no "closing date" and we're told items typically ship in a week or so. Purchasing Bluejay gear through the boosters directly supports Bondurant-Farrar students and programs.

NFHS Crisis Line
The NFHS has partnered with Crisis Text Line to encourage mental health support for teens across the country. Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support and crisis intervention in English and Spanish by empowering a community of trained volunteers to support people in their moments of need. Crisis Text Line promotes mental well-being for individuals, wherever they are. Individuals are encouraged to text the keyword “SHIELD” to 741741 if they are experiencing a mental health crisis – anything from suicidal thoughts or abusive relationships to difficult conversations with parents or anxiety about school workload.
