NACP Parents In the Know
News From Our Principal, Dr. Guerrero
WEEK 22 - February 19, 2021
Message from the Principal
This week went by so fast! So much is happening inside and outside our classrooms. Every week I will try to showcase more of the wonderful work our kids and teachers are doing through our virtual learning platforms. I will also try to showcase what we are up to in the office and around campus. This week please enjoy reading about the adventures in Ms. Martinez' Kindergarten class, Ms. Cachu's third grade dual immersion class and the progress students in Ms. Jimenez' fifth grade class are making.
Thank you to all the parents who took the time out of their super busy schedule and stopped by the school on Tuesday to exchange HP devices for brand new Chromebooks. Also, thank you to those who picked up a new Chromebook to use for state testing. We really appreciate you doing this!
This week we held an ELAC Council Meeting and a SSC Meeting. You will find the meeting agenda (written out and in Slideshow format) on our website. I included a PDF copy of the SSC meeting Slideshow Agenda below for your convenience.
Grab and Go Meal Distribution will go back to our regular Monday schedule on 02/22/21
Also in this week's newsletter you will find information on Special Education, NACP's Enrollment Lottery, and taking School Pictures at Home.
Happy Friday! Enjoy the weekend!
Sincerely Yours,
-Dr. Guerrero
NEWS FROM OUR AMAZING CLASSROOMS
News from Ms. Martinez' Wonderful Kindergarten Kids
Rainbow Party:
Ms. Martinez had a Rainbow Party to celebrate reaching their CLASS POINT GOAL and to celebrate the 100th day of school! Ms. Martinez was the rainbow and wore a colorful bow and matching makeup and Ms. Bauder wore her favorite color which is yellow. Students wore shirts to match their color groups. It was a huge celebration for all!
Hooray for reaching your goal and for being 100 days smarter boys and girls! We are proud of you!
100% ATTENDANCE:
A BIG celebration for Ms. Martinez and her students is that they have gotten 100% attendance for the past 2 weeks. She is hoping to get 100% for this week and those to follow. You can do it!
Spirit Day
Ms. Martinez' class has spirit! Students wore their Pinks, Whites and Reds last Friday to showcase their school spirit.

News from Ms. Cachu's Amazing Third Grader Class
Students in Ms. Cachu's Class have been busy learning and helping others learn.
Visual Biography Presentations:
Ms. Cachu shared a picture of her students with the props and boards they used to present their Visual Biographies. Students helped their peers learn more about famous historical figures such as: Jackie Robinson, Frida Khalo, Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and so many others. Ms. Cachu shared that in some cases students had to read the information about their historical figure in one language and then translated it in order to write their reports and present it in the other language or the target language. For example, the student reads a book or article in English, then presents in Spanish or vice versa.
What an amazing way to showcase your Bilingual and Biliterate Skills!!
Skype with a Scientist:
Ms. Cachu's also shared that students in her class have been studying animal adaptations as part of their NGSS standards. To make the learning more meaningful for her students Ms. Cachu reached out to Richard, who is a Biologist. Richard visited Ms. Cachu's classroom to talk to students about bird migration. I am sure that "Skyping with a Scientist" was a great experience for our students.
Happy Birthday Ms. Cachu:
The last picture Ms. Cachu shared with us is that of her students celebrating my birthday at the end of last month.
