Newsletter - Term 3, Week 3

Principal

Kia ora koutou,

As you can see in this weeks newsletter we have had a very busy week in and out of the classroom. It is great to see our children engaged and busy doing so many different activities.

Don't forget to book a time to catch up with your child's teacher next week (details to book in are below). When reading your child's mid year report - any child that has been identified as 'Tier 2' in reading, writing and maths will have a Learning Pathway developed to support and monitor their progress. Class teachers will talk about the Learning Pathways and show what progress has been made over the first six months of learning.

Classroom happenings....

Room 6

Kia Ora, from Room 6. We have been busy perfecting our painting skills and have started creating in our Maker space technology area. The students are all excited to create cool things out of recyclable materials. They have planned, made and reflected on their creations and are proud of their work. Some are already planning next weeks creations!

Room 3

This week, between Netball Tournaments, we completed speeches and also finished a mini inquiry on a world renown bridge that we had drawn out of a hat. Next week we will begin to look at the structure of bridges, working out how they are constructed.

Room 4

Room 5

Lots of Room 5 students live on dairy farms, so we decided to paint some cows. The class had a ball drawing, outlining and then painting their cows. They are very proud of their artwork. We are now getting busy picking poems for our poetry recital later in the term.

Summer Football

Winton Football will again host this popular event on Thursdays throughout term 4, first day is Thursday 20 October 2022. Schools are encouraged to make up teams, two grades in primary school level, Yr 1-5 and yr 6-8, with year 9s plus included in the adult competition, but I can usually find room for individual players needing a team. Junior games start at 5.30pm and adults from 6.30pm with two games per team each night. Registrations will be called for at the start of next month, but any enquiries can be sent to 5aside.wintonfootball@gmail.com

Otautau School is looking to enter teams in this competition this year and a googleform will go out to register player interest.
