Director Message
As 2021 comes to an end and we break for the winter holidays, I want to take a moment to thank our community during this most difficult time. It’s only with everyone’s cooperation, communication, and collaboration that we have been able to keep our school open while taking care of everyone’s health and safety. Working together and trusting each other is the only way we can ensure our students’ well-being.
Firstly, thank you to all the students who have jumped enthusiastically right back into school! When walking around the school, I see learning happening all around, I hear laughter emanating from the classrooms, and I experience the joy of the students being together. They have missed so much over the last two years and it’s great to see them being together. Even when some classes are online, they are building a community.
Thank you to all the teachers and staff members who create an environment for learning. Our classrooms are cheerful places! The facility is well maintained and clean and our office and admin team work tirelessly to ensure the school is ready for children every day. Let’s not forget our school nurse, Sevda, who is receiving calls 24/7! Whether it’s a new COVID case or a child with chickenpox, Sevda is always there to assist students, parents, and staff members.
Parents are an integral part of our community. Our students wouldn’t be here if you didn’t trust BIS. We are grateful that you entrust your children to us and appreciate your dedication to the school. A big thank you to the PSG, who despite COVID restrictions, are doing everything they can to bring some normalcy into our students’ lives.
I want to extend my thanks to all of you for everything that you do for our school. It is also during this time that I am reminded of my own good fortune to serve with pride as the director of BIS. Given how challenging 2021 has been for all of us, it seems especially important to express our hopes and dreams for better days ahead! Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and a happy new year.

School Resumes on Monday, January 3 on campus
We will have classes on campus starting on January 3, 2022.
COVID Vaccinations and Policies
BIS encourages families to vaccinate their children against COVID-19. Vaccinations will reduce the quarantine time in a classroom. Many other countries have a young age limit to qualify for the vaccine, so if you are traveling we hope you will look into this possibility.
The BIS Advisory Board discusses the current COVID situation at every meeting and makes adjustments to the COVID policies accordingly. The Board recently decided that fully vaccinated students and teachers who are first-level contacts can return to campus after a week and a negative COVID test. This is in line with government regulations for vaccinated people. This does not apply to a positive case in the class.
If there's a COVID positive case in a class, then the whole class must quarantine for 14 days. This is required by the Ministry of Education.
If your child has been vaccinated, please send Sevda a copy of their vaccine card.
