Holidays Around the World
We had a wonderful time during the month of December talking about all the different Holidays that are celebrated around the world this time of year. Some of the holidays we discussed included: St. Lucia Day in Sweden, St. Nicholas Day in the Netherlands, Hanukkah which originated in Israel, and Christmas in America and Germany. We had so much fun learning about all of these wonderful celebrations!
Our "hand"made poinsettias! A Christmas tradition that originates in Mexico.

Adjectives and Similes
During the month of December we learned about adjectives and how they can be used. We read How the Grinch Stole Christmas and came up with a list of adjectives to describe the Grinch before and after his heart changed. We then learned how we can use similes to describe things. We read My Dog Smells Like Dirty Socks and The Polar Express to find some examples of similes and then we created our own holiday similes! Watch the video below to hear them :).
Below is my first attempt at merging videos together to share. It's a tad tough to hear at parts, but hopefully I'll get better with each try! I hope you enjoy our holiday similes :).
