Testing and Such...
Do you have a plan for the following:
- Lunches for students and staff
- Relief for teacher breaks
- Hallway monitors
- Consolidation of testers for extended time
- Recess?
- Snack area for staff
- What about lower level teacher breaks?
- Snacks for students (I have always preferred string cheese, crackers, and water)
- Signs for outside visitors
Class Lists
It is about time to be considering class lists for next year. I suggest that you have your teachers complete a profile sheet on each student and then meet with you to determine best placement. Please include, special education teachers, dyslexia teachers, and any other specialists in order to ensure best placement. If you would like to problem solve any situations, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Elementary Safety/Security Talking Points for Staff Only
In light of the recent violence in Parkland, Florida, GISD Security has prepared a few elementary talking points for you to share with your teachers so that, if needed, they can share them with your students (the idea is that you would talk through each point with your students). Please note that these talking points are only for our GISD teachers and are not to be shared publicly or distributed to parents.
STAAR Readiness Resources
Traci included information in this week’s WAIP about an upcoming after school workshop for 3rd and 4th grade teachers. This is a great opportunity to help your teachers create stations to bolster Rock’N Review Plans
Discipline Reminders
As testing takes place next week and we await first round of STAAR scores, it would be a great opportunity to remind students and staff towards the end of the week about our discipline expectations on your respective campuses.
Using preventive supervision can save tons of work this spring, especially at recess, during transitions, or when there is down time. Preventive monitoring saves time and effort and beats the heck out of waiting until a problem/crisis arises and then handling it. As we close out the school year, remember that positive relationships and active monitoring prevents and reduces dramatically, the problems we see when the end of a school year approaches. April and May tend to be high discipline incident months, so be sure to remind your staff to be up and on the lookout when supervising students to prevent some situations from occurring.Customer Service and New Enrollees
Although we are well into the second half of the school year, we still have students enrolling at our campus on a daily basis. First impressions go a long way, regardless if it is the start of the school year or the last week of school. This would be a good time to meet with your office staff to make sure we continue to make customer service a priority as families enroll their kids on our campuses.
