Message from Mrs. Wilken
Dear Trailblazer Families,
I want to begin with a tremendous thank you to our school community for the most successful Fun Run in school history. Teachers' classroom supply and program budgets will be replenished and our PTA sponsored art program secured.
We have a full 5 day week leading up to Winter break. Thursday is our normal early release day and Friday is a regular 2:05pm dismissal.
At this time of year I want to take a moment to wish all of you and your families a healthy, safe and restful winter break. I know our community celebrates many different holidays this time of year - Happy Holidays to all!
The staff and I are looking forward to seeing everyone in 2023 as we continue to create a safe, enriching, and world class opportunity for all our students. It is with a grateful heart, I am thankful for all of our Stone Ranch families, our committed staff and each and every one of our AMAZING students❤️.
As always, proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Wilken

New! APEX Fun Run
Our PTA sponsored APEX FUN RUN all school fundraiser was a HUGE success BECAUSE of our amazing school community.
Thank you to all of you for supporting this big effort. Our total school profit was the most money a Fun Run at Stone Ranch has ever raised - approximately 3x what we raised last year. The exact number will be shared via social media this week, once we have the absolutely final earned number.
This final amount goes directly to fund teachers' classroom and educational supply budgets, the many things not covered by the district, and then back to the PTA to continue to support our school wide art program.
The cost to partner with the APEX company covers the following:
- Apex Athletes: One of our biggest costs is always amazing team members. We have four apex coaches on campus from bell to bell teaching lessons, inspiring and encouraging.
- Event Day Equipment: Tunnels, Tents, Cones, DJ equipment, blowers, flags, water cups and water jugs.
- Awards: Both "thank you gifts" & classroom awards which ranges from pizza parties, popcorn events, slime and pies in the face.
- Pledge Kits for every student which is a break away necklace, pledge kit and student sticker along with general marketing banners and signs around campus.
- T-shirts for every student, staff, custodian and administration (and occasionally a school dog or mascot ;) .
- Leadership Program Materials which includes six daily wristbands for each student each day, leadership cubes for each class and poster boards.
- Website, Insurance, Theme Development & Backend Support
Thank you Troop 2104
We to Go Trailblazers!!!
Ongoing! Big Ask - Safety 1st.
The district provides a limited number of walkie talkies for our site - in order to have every classroom and student space on our campus have a walkie talkie, we need 46 additional devices.
Additional walkie talkies will keep lines of communication open, at all times, in the most efficient and quick way possibly. This is an expensive ask. We are looking for a family/company/entity that might be able and willing to provide our site with 46 walkie talkies. This donation is tax deductible and we would be able to provide necessary documentation.
The total cost to fund this project is $19,832.52 - walkie talkies must be purchased through the district vendors.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY
New! Stone Ranch Library Winter Reading Challenge
( or if no printer access, feel free to make your own horse board using the model from Mrs.T).
Have your family initial each time you read for
20 minutes, have someone read to you, or finish a chapter in your favorite book or during the break.
If all horseshoes are initialed, bring your slip into
the library the week following break for a prize!
Good Home and School Library Habits
Make note of your library day. Books are due no later than your library day, and can be turned in earlier if you want.
Please remember to put books in backpacks the night before your library visit. Books need to be returned to the teacher's library book spot upon arrival at school.
Find a safe place at home to keep library books so they don't get lost or damaged.
Use clean hands when reading a library book and turn the pages gently. Use a bookmark.
Keep library books away from younger children who might know how to take care of a library book.
It's strongly encouraged to keep library books in a large plastic bag to protect it against food and water spills in backpacks.
Keep library books away from food, water and pets.
Check out the video below for Chromebook reminders:

Sick students should not be at school. Thank you for your efforts to help us keep all students and staff healthy. If your child has a fever, please do not send them to school, even if you give them medicine and the fever comes down. All students with a fever must be home and 24 hours fever free before returning to school.
If you need to know the latest COVID protocol, you can always refer to the PUSD website here. You are also welcome to call the health office with any questions at 858-487-8474 x4108 or email Rachael McKinnon at rmckinnon@powayusd.com.
