Creighton is trying to figure out how he wants to live his life and who is loyalties are with.
Event 1
After gambling and losing money, Creighton heads home after curfew. (pg 12)
This shows he does not know what he is doing with his life. He's going home after curfew, gambling, and losing money.
Event 2
Creighton gets taken on an English ship to serve in the army. (pg 13)
This is a big point in his life because all the major events of it take place because of this.
Event 3
Creighton goes to work in Dr. Franklin's printing shop. (pg 92)
This is how he becomes a more professional spy, which leads him to allying with the Americans.
Event 4
Colonel Gower and Lieutenant Hale leave Creighton in America when they escape. (pg 144)
This is what truly motivates him to join the Americans and get revenge on the English.
Event 5
Creighton's Father asks if he is playing a game. Creighton replies, "No sir... not any longer." (pg 257)
This shows how he has grown up and is not thinking of life as something you have to live a certain way. He realizes you are free to live it how you want to.
