Combined Grade Level Meetings

During this week's Combined Grade Level Meetings, you will share feedback with your team leader regarding Math Flexible Grouping. When you are completed with that task, you can move on to other items that you need to take care of either as a team, grade level team, or individually. AMP teachers and other professional staff should attend to pressing items at this time.

Hiring Update

We are in the process of hiring for the 4K and the 1st grade position. The positions were posted last Monday and will be active through May 15. Interviews will be either late the week of May 16 or the week of May 23. Obviously, there will be 1st grade representation on the team for the 1st grade position. If you are interested in assisting with this process for either position, please let me know. Thanks!

Class Placement Procedures

The Leadership Team will be discussing and finalizing the class placement procedure for next year. Here is the timeline for this:

  • May 12 - Leadership Team discusses and finalizes procedure
  • May 19 - Faculty Meeting will be used for class placement work
  • May 24 - Combined Grade Level Team Meetings used to continue this work

Stay tuned for more information.

Data Wall

When you are finished with MAP and BAS testing, please enter these scores into the data wall. All scores should be in by June 3. Thanks for your help with this!

Safety Drills

As we near the end of the year, we have a few safety drills that we need to fit in yet. We are behind a couple of fire drills, so if it feels like we are doing too many drills in May, we are! We have two more to get in. We also need to do a second tornado drill and a second lock down drill. The lock down drill has been scheduled for May 23 at 10:30 a.m. The tornado drill will be June 1 at 10:30 a.m.

CSD Receives Recognition for Music Programs

CSD has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. This designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. CSD joins 476 districts across the country receiving this prestigious award. We are very proud of our district and our CSD music educators. We have a framed certificate that will be hung outside of Judy's classroom. Way to go CSD Music Department!

Spotlight of the Week

4th Grade Tree Planting

The 4th Grade celebrated Arbor Day by planting two trees in the front of the Thorson grounds. They worked with the city forester, Kevin Westphal. They also made the News Graphic last week! Great job, 4th Grade!
