Welcome to Ms. Lori (Guttozv)

Hello Oakley Park families!

My name is Sundie Lori (Guttovz). I’m excited to join Oakley Park’s wonderful owl family!

This school year will be my 18th year as an educator. My educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University, a Masters in the Art of Teaching degree from Marygrove College, and a masters equivalent from Performance Learning Systems.

I have two lovely children, Charlie (17) who is finishing up her high school career this October, and Sydnie (14) who will begin her high school career this year at Milford High School. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my kids exploring our lovely state parks, kayaking, paddle boarding, and hiking.

I’m incredibly excited to begin our 21/22 school year and look forward to making positive memories with all of my students.

See you soon,

Ms. Sundie Lori

Back to School Registration Reminder

Walled Lake Schools has streamlined the annual registration/first-day packet process for ALL K-12 families. The District will continue to use the Family Access/Skyward system to automate the process for updating and completing documents such as the emergency card, Food Service application, FERPA form, fee payments, Code of Conduct, and other important annual school forms that require parent approval.

Skyward Family Access is how parents access the back-to-school packet.

A Skyward Family Access parent account is required in order to complete the Online Back-to-School Packet process for all schools. (A parent account username is alphanumeric - SMITHMAD000; a student account username is the student's ID number - 1234567.) To obtain a Family Access account, email familyaccess@wlcsd.org from your email account on file with the district or call 248-956-2190 (email is best). Please include ALL of the following information in the body of your message. You will be contacted within 3 business days.

  • Guardian Name
  • Your student name(s) and name of schools they attend in Walled Lake Schools
  • Guardian's email address currently on file with the district
  • Daytime phone number

Kindergarten Staggered Start: August 25, 26, & 27

During the first week of school, all kindergarten students will begin a required comprehensive assessment to determine social and academic skills. These investigations into each individual child’s attributes are best completed in smaller settings. We also know that these smaller settings will support the social-emotional wellness of our youngest learners as they adjust to these first days of school. In order for optimal execution of these state required assessments, we will be staggering our start by alphabet in our Kindergarten classrooms August 25, 26, and 27.

If you have recently registered for Owl Pick, you will receive your car and backpack number no later Monday, August 30th. In the meantime, students can be picked up in the main office at the end of the school day. Please be sure to have your identification with you as our new office staff gets to know our parents/caregivers.

Preparing for the first day of school

As we approach the first day of school, there will be jitters no doubt! It is important to acknowledge these feelings, while reassuring your child they are going to have a great first day of school! If you choose to drive/drop off your child on the first day of school, final "good-byes" should be made at the entrance of the building. Staff will be at the front of the building to welcome students, assisting as needed and teacher will be anxiously awaiting their arrival at the classroom. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to build independence in our children.

Our Community Garden is GROWING!

Last Spring a small but mighty crew joined forces to restore the Oakley Park Community Garden! MANY thanks to Luis Maldonado who rebuilt the boxes along with Caroline Sadler, Valerie Novaes, and Valerie Gui (and their Owls) for their time and "green thumbs" on this special project. . We are looking forward to the future of our garden!
