Make Room for Makerspaces
Schoology Corner
NPR Student Podcast Challenge
ET in Action!
There are over 100 different Makerspace kits to choose from, covering topics from 3D printing to engineering, from digital storytelling to coding. Our circulating kits allow schools to try popular making activities with students before they invest in kits of their own, or in spacial renovations to make room for an established Makerspace.
If you are interested in seeing what kinds of kits are available, take a look at our Makerspace site, and learn how to check out a kit. If you have further questions, you can contact Classroom Library.
Our Library Technical Systems Manager, Len Bryan, recently wrote a blog post with ideas on how to establish a "maker" culture at your school. Check it out here!

NPR Student Podcast Challenge
National Public Radio is hosting their first-ever Student Podcast Challenge! Students can put together a podcast between three and 12 minutes long and their teacher can submit it to a panel of judges. The winning podcast will be featured in segments on Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
You can find more information, including rules and a list of suggested topics on NPR's website.
Ed Tech in Action!
Recently, our team worked with students in the classroom learning how to use Chromebooks to take pictures of a book and to record themselves reading a text. This gives them practice in reading, speaking, and listening to their own voices.
If you'd like our team to support you with integrating technology in the classroom, please reach out to your Ed Tech Specialist or edtech@dpsk12.org.
Have a great Thanksgiving break!
