Weekly Family Update # 15
November 22, 2020
Hello Falcon Families,
I hope you enjoy a wonderful week off. The weather is looking to be perfect this week!
A reminder from our Guidebook for Reopening: California is currently under a travel advisory. If your family is considering travel at this time or planning a trip, please review this important information from the CDC. We appreciate your support in reducing exposure to students and staff.
As we continue to plan for safely reopening Oak Valley Middle School, pending current health orders, on January 19, 2021, we are interested in hearing from all of our families. In early August, you submitted a survey asking whether you wanted your student to return to learning at Oak Valley on-campus or engage in a virtual learning setting. We understand that, as public health data has been changing and personal experiences have occurred, your previous response may have changed.
Once students return, our school will follow a simultaneous teaching model, meaning teachers will instruct both on-campus and virtual students at the same time. To maintain social distancing, on-campus learners will come to school on either Mondays & Tuesdays OR Wednesdays & Thursdays. Days of the week will be determined by alphabet to coincide with siblings attending the same days. All students will participate in independent virtual learning on Fridays.
We are providing families with a window to reassess the learning model for your children. Please complete the form linked below to identify if your student plans to remain accessing his/her classes virtually or in-person as described in the reopening information below, and also on our website.
Please complete this form for each child that you have attending OVMS by FRIDAY, December 4th, 2020. We will use this data to continue the planning process.
For families that do not respond to the survey, placement of your student will default to your previous selection from the survey in early August.
I cannot thank this community enough for all of your patience as we navigate this unusual time.
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!
