A Message from Dr. Nolan
Dear Gatewood Families:
It's officially fall! The school grounds are bursting with color! We are fortunate that Gatewood is located in this natural, wooded setting.
Our students are spending quality learning time in our outdoor classrooms. Thanks to Mr. Ikhaml and his team for getting these classrooms up and running.
Teacher/Family conferences are fast approaching. Look for conference sign up information soon.
Please feel free to contact me with any comments or concerns you may have. I would be happy to speak to you!

A Message from the Library
Welcome back to the Gatewood Media Center! Things look and feel different this year, but we are excited to get books to Gatewood readers in a new way! Here’s a look at this year’s plan.
Remote checkout means students will choose their library books online and have them delivered to classrooms or Distance Learning pickup. At the beginning of the year, some students will receive surprise library books! Older readers will use the Destiny app in ClassLink to reserve books for checkout. Watch this video to see how it works. As we get further into the school year, we will be teaching all students how to request books from our online library catalog.
We look forward to a great year and many wonderful stories! Happy Reading!!!
To keep books in “tip top” shape, please review these reminders:
- Find a safe place for library books away from little brothers/sisters and family pets.
- Have clean hands when handling books.
- Please remember to turn pages gently (at the corner).
- Put the book back in your bin or bag when you are done reading it so it’s easy to find when it’s time to come back.
- Return your library books on time.
Sometimes accidents happen. If a library book is lost or damaged while checked out to your child, the book must be replaced. A note will be sent home letting you know the cost and options for replacement.
