ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Principal's Message
We hope everyone had a great week. It certainly was a colorful one at Elm! We had twin day, pajama day (this principal's favorite day), mismatch day, and heroes vs. villains day. The kids showed their pride all week and it was awesome!
We hosted our third annual Color Run, and students in grades 5-8 came out to participate in our PAT sponsored event. It was so fun to see our current and future students coming together as a community.
8th grade took their Illinois Constitution test this week checking one more box on the road to Graduation. Way to go Class of 2023; we know you're going to finish the year strong!
As a reminder, we have our final Cougar Connections this coming Monday. This is an excellent opportunity for students to take advantage of a re-take, finishing up summative work, or check-in with a teacher. Additionally, we still have homework club Tuesday-Friday and Ketchup Club everyday during lunch.
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s Cougar Courier. As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Have a nice weekend. #TeamElmStrong
Most Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Groeneveld
Assistant Principal's Corner - Elm Band Concert.
Good afternoon Elm Families,
This week, I had the opportunity to attend the 6-8th grade band concert hosted at EPHS. I would like to congratulate Mr. Hawk and the band for their tremendous efforts throughout the year. It was amazing to see this group of young musicians come together to develop a melodic symmetry. Having an office so close to the band room affords me the opportunity to hear the monthly progress our students have made, and it is nothing short of remarkable. Each new season brought about gradual progressions and varied formats for their learning. Mr. Hawk has to facilitate large group instruction each day which requires profound organization and patience.
Thank you to Mr. Hawk and the band for your hours of practice and dedication to the arts. Your final product was entertaining and masterful! Great job!!!
