Thoughts From Turpin

We are back at it with Growth Mindset talk! Please see the tips and tricks cards for talking points with students at home! This week's topic is Metacognition, talking about the process of thinking and expressing feelings. This is a great subject and talking point for ALL students....more now than ever!
Big picture

School-Wide PJ Day

Here at Riverview we are officially deeming the day after Halloween (Nov.1st) school-wide PJ day! What better way to do your learning the day after a fun filled evening on Sunday night then in your PJs the following Monday.

Looking forward to seeing all the cute PJs on Monday!

Carloop Names

Now that the months are getting colder and we know we will be having a lot more car riders vs. walkers. Please make sure that you have either labeled on a piece of paper or folder written large and legible, the student's name of the student you are picking up after school. By doing this, this helps to make the pickup process go faster and smoother as our teacher callers can quickly identify student's cars to have them come out to be picked up.

Thank you in advance for helping after school pick up become more efficient!

If you could spare a few......

As we are are gearing up for colder months and weather, we have noticed our extra masks dwindling here in the office. Just today we gave out 25 masks in one day.....Holy Cow! At that rate we will be out of extra masks in no time.

If by chance you have some extra disposable masks laying around at home OR have access to extras, Riverview Office staff would gladly take those off of your hands.

I would also like to remind families to please make sure you student is bringing a mask to wear daily! It also would not hurt to have a couple of extra in their backpacks as well.....you never know what the day will bring!

Veterans Day FUN

We are so excited about Veterans Day at Riverview! Our students look forward to this special day each year to show our veterans how much we appreciate and value their commitment, service, and dedication to our country. Last year we began a new RE tradition with our car parade. We are ready to cheer for our veterans again this year! While we are not able to invite these special guests into the school for our assembly, we hope this parade will show all of you just how proud we are to call you family! The RE Veterans Car Parade will begin at 9:30 AM on November 11th. See the attached map for parade route. We encourage you to decorate your car to celebrate your veteran!

In addition to the parade, the 4th grade students will once again share a music program to celebrate Veterans Day! They have been working hard to prepare the music for this show and learn about the importance of Veterans Day. This group of students is excited to honor those who serve our country. After the performance for our students, a link will be sent out so that you will be able to see this amazing group of young musicians and celebrate with your family!

Photo Retakes

Mark it down on your calendar photo retake day will be on NOVEMBER 16. Did you miss picture day....not quite happy with your original photos....no worries! Picture Retake day is right around the corner!

CrossWalk Safety Reminder

Safety First is our motto here at Riverview, which means PLEASE make sure that you walking or you are having your students walk down to the school's designated crosswalk areas. Our 47th street is a VERY busy road, which is why we have designated crosswalk areas that we specifically position staff members there to help with the safety of all students. I wish I had the man power to staff all Riverview community passageways, but that is just not the case. So while it might save you or your kiddos a few extra steps to cut across, that is certainly not a safer option and we need you to cross at the designated crosswalk areas.

Thank you for helping keep our safety at Riverview Top Priority!

Grade Cards

Grade Cards will be posted as of Thursday October 21st. You will be able to see your students grades in Skyward.

Playground Reminder

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE our new playground and we LOVE that our families like to use it after hours. Please be mindful that we do have our very own JCPRD group onsite until 6pm. Which means they do rent the facility from us until 6 and have full access to the playground for just them. Please feel free to play anytime after 6pm!

Thank you!

Peanut FREE School.....Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that we are a peanut FREE school here at Riverview. With birthday celebrations and upcoming fall parties, I thought I would attach our peanut free approved foods list. Please note that this is a working document and if you find another food or bakery location that meets the peanut free requirements, we would be happy to add that to our list to share out with other families!

Thank you again for helping keep all the kiddos here at RE safe and healthy!
