Orienteering Report

Orienteering News

The College Orienteering Team was busy during the school holidays with a couple of trips away.

BOP School Champs

Held on farmland in Pongakawa Valley on a map full of gullies and spurs which really got the heart rate pumping for all the runners. Congratulations to the ribbon winners....Marcus 3rd, Letitia 2nd, Greer 3rd and Harley 1st in their age class.

NZ School Champs

After being postponed due to covid19 last year, the team finally got to compete in Hawke’s Bay for two days of top level racing which attracted large fields of 40-60 per race.

Day One was the Sprint Event around the very tricky, intricate map of Hastings Splash Planet Hydroslide Park. Some solid performances by our runners with Harley and Marcus just outside the Top 10.

Day Two was the Farm Event held on Awapai hill country station with plenty of swamp, rocks, manuka and mud to navigate through or around. The team always seem to do well in this terrain and it showed in some great results with Marcus 5th, Harley 6th in the championship grade and Doug 1st, Liam 4th in the standard. Well done team.
