Who is Johann Gutenburg?
Johann Gutenburg was a German blacksmith, printer and goldsmith who created printing to Europe. His invention of movable type printing was named one of the most important inventions of that time period.
Why is Gutenburg Significant?
Between 1450 and 1455, the Gutenberg Bible was created. Early states have a total of 200 copies that were scheduled to be printed on rag cotton linen paper, and 30 copies on velum animal skin. It is not known exactly how many copies were actually printed. Today, only 22 copies are known to exist.
