Here's what's happening in MS this week!

ENGLISH
6th Grade: Students will take the ELA M-STEP this week. We will spend time going over test features. Additionally, we will begin our final unit of the semester--creative writing.
7th Grade: Students will take the ELA M-STEP this week. We will spend time going over test features. We will also continue reading The Giver--finishing early next week--which will culminate in an argumentative essay, revisiting the merits of Jonas’s community.
8th Grade: We are wrapping up our poetry unit this week. Students have written a variety of poems and they will put them all together in one final project. On Tuesday, the incoming students from Ebenezer Christian School will be joining us to see what the high school is all about. Next week, we are taking our final NWEA tests of the year.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We are wrapping up our study of Ancient Greece and the legacy they left. Test coming up soon.
7th Grade: We have wrapped up our study of Ancient Greece and the legacy they left. Test on Monday!
8th Grade: We have started learning about the Secession of the South with the Election of 1860. We only have two weeks of regular class before Lancer Leap. The test on the Civil War will be incorporated into the final exam.
MATH
6th Grade: We are nearing the end of our unit which means our unit test will be this week. We are learning how to add like terms and use the distributive property to help us solve algebraic problems.
7th Grade: 7th graders have been exploring circles and using formulas to find circumference and area of circles. We will be learning how to find the surface area of complex shapes this week!
8th Grade: We have been focusing on translations and reflections of 2D objects which can be used in programming robots and in graphic arts. This week we will be rotating objects around the coordinate plane and reviewing translations and reflections. Expect a quiz this week.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: Students have been learning about different eras in Geologic Time by creating posters. We will be gearing up for a test soon on Fossils and Geologic Time.
7th Grade: The 7th grade students are studying the layers of the atmosphere, characteristics, and gases that are found in the layers.
8th Grade: The 8th grade students will begin studying the weather and its variables.
