AIG Update 11/13/20
Williston Middle School
Gracious Greetings!
I hope you had a fantastic week!
Remember in the week ahead to take a moment to think about the things that you are thankful for. Reach out to a friend or a loved one, a teacher or neighbor, and just say "Thanks!" It means a lot to the person receiving it and it will make you feel good too!
Happy Pre Turkey Week!

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress or performance. I know that things are unusual and many gifted students struggle with the unfamiliar. Working on organizational skills and planning ahead are things that I can help with. Don't let your child slip behind if you notice that they are struggling. We can work together to get them back on track.
This is a great opportunity to catch up on things if needed~
New Hanover County Schools-Career and Technical Education program in partnership with the Carolina Fintech Hub, nCino and Live Oak Bank are bringing the Youth Technology Apprenticeship Camp (YTAC) to the Cape Fear region. YTAC is an E-Sports technology camp designed to engage students in coding and computer science while they compete with other schools. It is free for students to participate and a gaming console will be provided to the student for the duration of the program if they do not currently have one. Students will be able to develop essential STEM skills while learning about potential future career opportunities. Participants who perform well in the Winter Cohort may be offered pre-acceptance into the main Y-TAC Summer Cohort, which is a paid apprenticeship.
Interested students should complete an online application, the application will close by the end of the week, November 13, 2020. For additional information please contact Shemeka.Shufford@nhcs.net.
