Library News
Did you know that reading 20 minutes a day during the summer (or reading 6 books over break) can ensure that your child doesn't fall behind and will help them remember what they've learned throughout the school year?
Visit the public library and use the Summer Reading Program!
Summer Reading Program - A Universe of Stories -runs from June 1 to July 31. Our reading programs are through Beanstack – where babies, kids, teens, and adults can all participate to win prizes by completing reading requirements for their category. It also includes book and activity logging, badges and registration for all members of the family under one account. Simply register one time to participate in library sponsored reading programs and activities all year round!
Sign-up for Beanstack so you can enjoy the Summer Reading Program:
School Directory
We have had a number of parents wanting to find ways to schedule playdates, parties, etc. with their children’s classmates. HSE has made this possible with our Online School Directory. This service is only available for those families that choose to “OPT IN”.
You may select what information you would like other parents to see (such as address, phone numbers) for birthday invitations and the like. If you would like to “OPT IN” please follow the steps below:
- Login to Skyward
- Click on “MY ACCOUNT” tab in the upper right corner
- On the bottom of the page look for the Online Directory
- Choose which information you would like to share
- Click Save
Please note that the only people that will have access to this, are the families at HRE. If you have older children at other schools, their information will only be shared with the families at their school. We hope this will help our students to be able to stay connected outside of school hours.
Background Checks
Hoosier Road Elementary always has many opportunities for parents to become involved. Whether it’s through volunteering in the classroom or a PTO event, attending classroom activities or even eating lunch with your child, you must have a valid background check on file and view the anti-bullying training on-line. Background checks are valid for three years. Please allow up to 6 business days for checks to be completed. Please follow this link for complete directions: http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/parents/volunteering.aspx
We want you to be able to interact with our students but we also need to adhere to strict safety guidelines set forth by our school district. Look for an email from Safe Visitor Solutions which will issue a bar code unique to you. Please bring that bar code (on your phone or on paper) on your first visit to HRE so we may take your photo! Thank you for your compliance and for helping to keep all of our students safe.
Text-A-Tip
Text-A-Tip is a program that allows students, parents or others to anonymously send a text or email message to our school resource officers and school administrators about concerns they may have for their own safety or the safety of others. Text-A-Tip will be actively monitored during the school day. It should not be used for emergencies—Call 911 if you need immediate help. For more information on how to submit a tip please use the link below.
