A Note From Mr. Christ

Dear Paddock Families,

What a great week. It was exciting to see all of the students and staff back in the building eager to learn!

With the cold weather upon us, more and more hats, gloves, coats, etc. are finding their way to the lost and found. Please encourage your student to check the lost and found (it is in the main hallway) to see if they notice any of their items. Teachers will also allow students to go to the lost and found, at appropriate times, to look for missing items if you let them know something specific has been misplaced.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Jason Christ

3-Tier Bus Schedule and Start Time Change

Starting on Wednesday, February 23rd, District 15 will be moving to a 3-tier bus system in response to the nationwide bus driver shortage that has significantly impacted District 15's ability to transport students to and from school. Please review additional information here and on the D15 website to learn more about this.

As a result of moving to a 3-tier bus system, all District 15 schools will have their start times slightly adjusted. At Paddock, the school day will start and end 35 minutes later. Starting February 23rd, the new schedule will be:

Mon - Thurs

8:25 am - 3:05 pm

KDG AM: 8:25 - 11:00 am

KDG PM: 12:30 - 3:05 pm

8:25 am - 2:15 pm

KDG AM: 8:25 - 10:35 am

KDG PM: 12:05 - 2:15 pm

At Paddock, teacher daily schedules, specials (art, PE music) times, and the lunch/recess schedule will all shift 35 minutes later as well. We believe that doing this will cause the least amount of disruption to the students' learning environment and daily routines. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Paddock main office.

COVID Guidance

Based on updated COVID guidance released by the CDC on January 4th, there will be shorter isolation periods for individuals who test positive for COVID with no symptoms or if their symptoms are resolving and for people identified as close contacts. Quarantine periods have been shortened from 10 days to 5 days.

If a student returns after 5 days of quarantine, they are required to wear a well-fitted mask throughout the school day, including at recess, for an additional 5 days. During times where the student needs to remove their mask (breakfast, lunch, etc.) 6 feet of distance from others is required.

We know that the COVID guidance can be confusing and complex. The District 15 website has a lot of answers to commonly asked questions. As individual situations and questions arise, please do not hesitate to call the Paddock main office for clarification.

Car Loop Line

When dropping off or picking up your student in car loop, please remember to:

  • Pull all the way up to the car in front of you before letting your student out -- This allows more cars to drop off/pick up at a time and keeps the line moving quickly.
  • Stay in your car -- It is dangerous for parents to get out of their cars due to the two-way traffic and it significantly slows down the line.
  • Have your student ready -- having snow gear, backpacks, and masks ready before the student exits the car will make dropping off students much faster.
  • Stay in line -- Do not try to go around another car or make a U-turn. This is extremely dangerous with two-way traffic that includes school buses and daycare vans.

Doing this will help keep the car loop line running smoothly so that all of the students get in and out of the building as quickly and safely as possible.

Chiggys Dine and Share

Our next Dine and Share event will be on Wednesday, January 26th at Chiggy's Gyros. Chiggy's will donate 15% of the total sales to the Paddock PTA! See the flyer for more information.

Food Pantry

All Saints Lutheran Food Pantry, at the intersection of Rand Rd. and Dundee Rd., is now open Saturday's from 9:00am-1:00pm. Please see the flyer for additional information and locations.

Please make sure you are sending at least 1-2 additional clean masks with your child each day. These masks should be well fitting and cover both the student's nose and mouth without the student needing to continually pull the mask up. Having a well fitting mask is imperative to keeping our students safe and limiting close contacts, should a positive case arise. Thank you for your help in this.

Health Office

As a reminder, if you student is showing any signs of COVID-19, please keep them home from school. Additionally, if they awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, we encourage you to have them stay home until those results come in. Being able to certify that your student is healthy and able to come to school will be extremely beneficial as we move into the colder months of the year.

If your child has a Health Care plan for asthma or an allergy OR has medication they need to take at school, please make sure you read the linked documents and get in contact with Mrs. Pool, our Paddock nurse. You can reach her at 847-963-5802 or
