ChromeStore: Students and Teachers
Check out what the chrome store has to offer.
Location: Antarctica
According to Google:
The Chrome Web Store is an online marketplace where you can find a wide range of extensions, themes, and apps designed for the Google Chrome Browser.
- Apps - advanced websites that are similar to other types of programs that you install on your computer.
- Extensions - custom features and functionality that you can add to Chrome. They work on any website that you're looking at through the Chrome Browser.
- Themes - change the skin of the Chrome Browser.

Some of my favorite apps:
Typing Club
Do your students take forever to type an essay, or even just their name? TypingClub can help! They add it from the chrome store and can practice when they have free time (maybe while they're waiting for the rest of the class to get logged in). Even 2-3 minutes each time you use the computers will make a difference.
Padlet
Padlet is like a large cork board that all of your students can simultaneously add stickie notes to. I've seen it used for brainstorming, KWL charts, or using a particular vocabulary word in a sentence (like this example). The teacher can provide feedback and manage the board.
Snagit
Snagit is a screen capture tool that lets you edit, share, and collaborate around your screen captures. Provide feedback to your students, or have them take a screenshot of their progress to submit as an assignment. There's a Snagit App and Extension that you'll need to download in order to use.

Earn Points on Your Adventure
1-point: Reflect on the G+ Community under the Chrome Store post, include at least 2 apps that caught your eye.
2-points: Reflect on the G+ Community as stated above and add 1 app or extension to each group members chrome apps page.
3-points: Reflect on the G+ Community as stated above, add 1 app or extension to each group members apps page, and email 2 people that don't work at Union Hill to tell them about what you've learned. (This could be someone else in the district that teaches in your department/grade level, a curriculum coach that you've worked with, someone else that might be interested in the topic.) CC: Vanessa or Nicole
Mark your points on the back of your booklet (max three points for this topic). For this part of the adventure, draw up to 3 purses using the green marker provided at this station. Only one person per team needs to track points.
