Principal Young's Caregiver Update
January 6, 2022
Message from Principal Young
Happy New Year to all of our families and students. We are excited to welcome our students back to school and re-establish routines and expectations. Teachers are spending time this week connecting with students, allowing them to connect with one another, and revisiting the Glen Hills Way Behavior Matrix. We are looking forward to a successful second half of the school year with a continued focus on Respect, Responsibility, and Inclusion.
STAR Assessments
We use the STAR Assessment to help understand student learning growth and achievement around grade level standards as students progress throughout the school year. This information is used to make instructional decisions to both support and challenge students academically.
The testing window is January 9th-20th for students in grades 4-8. 4th - 6th Grades will test the 9th and the 11th. 7th - 8th Grades will test the 10th and the 12th. Any scholars who miss those dates will have make-up testing the 17th through the 20th.
Please review the resource below regarding the STAR test for families.
Pick Up & Drop Off
Please review the process for Pick Up and Drop Off. This is a reminder to all of our caregivers to only use the lower lot by the pool doors for pick up. Picking up students in the upper lot creates an unsafe situation for students.
Drop Off
School starts at 8:20am and the doors to Glen Hills open at 8:15am for scholar arrival. Students arriving before 8:15am will NOT be supervised or allowed into the building.
Please enter and exit the lot with a right turn only. Making a left turn holds up cars moving in and out of the lot.
Cars need to remain in the car lane as they enter the lot, so that buses have the space they need to enter.
No cars should pull in the back where buses unload.
Follow traffic patterns in the lot. Stay alert and drive slowly. Follow staff direction.
Any students arriving after 8:25am should enter through the main entrance in the upper lot to receive a late pass to class.
Pick Up
School ends at 3:46pm and all students should be picked up by 4:00pm.
Please enter and exit the lot with a right turn only. Making a left turn holds up cars moving in and out of the lot.
Cars need to remain in the car lane as they enter the lot, so that buses have the space they need to enter.

Lost & Found Last Call
Student items in the Lost and Found were put out on tables during conferences and have been in the office since then. All unclaimed items will be donated on Friday January 13, 2023. If your student has missing items that you would like to check for we encourage you to do so before the end of next week.
