East Elementary Bobcats 2020-2021
August 2020
Welcome East Leaders!
Welcome to our Kindergarten Students! (Virtual Kindergarten Orientation)
First Day of School
We will have plenty of staff members present to help transition your child from the car or bus to their individual classrooms. The same will be true for the end of the day. Thank you for your patience as we work together to make sure all of our students are transitioned safely!
Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures and Map
A map for parent pick-up routes can be found by clicking here. The route is the same as 2019-2020. PreK parents are the only parents that are allowed to park and walk up to drop off their child and pick them up. For all other grade levels (K-3), drop off will occur under the main awning and pick up will be split into 2 lines. If your child is a 3rd grader, you will have the option of dropping your child at the I-4 building but they will be picked up at East.
Basics of Drop Off and Pick Up:
Drop off time begins at 7:15. After 7:55, students are tardy. If you arrive after 7:55, please park and call the front office to gain entrance to the building to check your child in.
Pick up time is 3:30-3:50. At 3:50 students are taken to the office to call home.
Parents/guardians must stay in their vehicle unless your child is a PreK student and you are parking to walk your student to the front cross walk..
Students are not allowed to walk to adjacent parking lots to enter or exit a vehicle.
Parents/guardians are not allowed to walk up to the pick up area to retrieve their student(s) unless the student is in PreK.
The back of the building is for buses only.
Please contact our school resource officer if you have questions regarding procedures.
Tips:
- Help your child learn to unbuckle and buckle themselves
- Have lunchbox/backpack zipped and ready ready to go
- Help your child learn to get out of the car independently
- Staff can ONLY open the door
- Staff cannot help students get out of car seats/vehicles
Student Handbook Highlights
Please take time to review this document. It highlights important changes that we've had to make for this school year to ensure that we are adhering to state and district expectations.
COVID-19 Information and Resources
Just a reminder that district guidelines for this fall were released in July and can be found by clicking here.
Here are a few things we want to be sure that you know as we begin this year:
- We LOVE our East families and your children will be taken care of as if they are our own from the second they enter our building.
- We are designing our day to make it as normal as possible for our students and our staff. Students will still attend specials classes, have library time, enjoy recess, and eat lunch with their class. Distance will be placed between students in these environments but it does not mean they will be isolated. They will still be able to talk and interact with each other.
- If you have been part of our campus family, then you know how important it is to interact with our families. Since visitors will not be allowed, at least for the fall semester, please know we will always be looking for virtual ways to involve our families in your child's education and elementary experience.
- Your child's temperature will need to be checked at home each morning. Students with fever and/or related symptoms should not come to school.
- Students that exhibit symptoms at school will be screened by the nurse. If the child needs to go home, the nurse will contact the parent. The child should be picked up within 30 minutes.
- Face coverings are required for all students and staff members to ensure everyone is kept as safe as possible. We know that will bring some challenges and we know our little ones will need reminders and lots of encouragement. They will have plenty of opportunities to take breaks from their face coverings including PE, Recess and at Lunch.
- Added cleaning protocols and scheduled restroom breaks, etc. are being added into our day to also add another layer of protection.
- Technology will be integrated into our school day and will be utilized for at-home learning.
- And finally -- This is new territory for everyone involved. We appreciate the grace that you have extended to us during this season! We do not have all of the answers but I know that we will continue to work together to do the best we can for the students we serve. Your thoughts and ideas are always welcome and we hope to continue our partnership with you to help your child have a very successful and memorable year!
You are appreciated,
Melissa Goulden, Principal
