D56 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee Update
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEI) will return to work this fall, with our first meeting of the year later this month. We continue to meet virtually, yet I hold out hope to move to holding in person meetings later this year. During the course of the past school year the committee developed and piloted a survey for our middle school students to gather data as to how our students feel with regards to their own sense of belonging in our schools. The survey is planned to be given to our 6th - 8th grade students on Monday or Tuesday (October 18 or 19). The data we collect through this process will help us to identify areas of concern and work with stakeholders (students, staff, and parents) to develop plans for improvement.
If you would like to preview the survey prior to those dates please reach out to Mrs. Lori Rupsch, the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent at lrupsch@d56.org. She will be able to send you a copy for review.
Below you will find an outline of the DEI work. Currently we are working in Tier 1 and moving into Tier 2, as well. If you are interested in being a part of this work, please let us know.
