PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
I trust you've had a positive two weeks with your families over the holiday break. It was certainly nice to have a few days away and enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation. It is great to see the students again and hear all about their holiday escapades.
Yesterday we had a Powhiri at school for new students and families which was very well supported. A huge thank you to all those who attended this special occasion. Well done to Mrs Field, Mr Bain and Whaea Robin for your major input into this experience.
This term we say a big welcome to our new students. Well done to Willow Shaw, Noelia Garcia, William Walter, Olivia and James Kennedy, Richard Brangwin, Isla and Theo Robinson, Andrés Janse van Rensburg, Olivia Coull, Max Jackson, Alexa Ang, Logan Creswell, Connor Hattingh, Mila Barry, Eva Humphry, and Olivia Nairne for making such a positive start to life at Havelock North Primary.
A huge thank you to Ben and Vicki Redmond and their team who donated their time to install two amazing kwila decks outside Room 6 & 7. Check out the team in action below. Thanks also to Josh Shanley who spent a good chunk of the weekend barrowing bark around these decks. Great job team!
A reminder that Learning Conferences will be taking place next week (Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th August). The purpose of these conferences is to revisit the goals(s) set in Term 1, set new goals and discuss the Term 2 school report which came home at the end of last Term. Conferences will be 15 minutes in duration. On Wednesday 4th August school will close and conferences will begin at 1:00 pm. We would be most grateful if students could be collected at 12:30 pm on Wednesday 4th August, although we do understand this is not possible for all families. Please let the school office know should your child need to remain at school until 3 pm that day. All remaining students will be supervised in the hall. Normal school hours will resume on Thursday 5th August.
Room 10 will not be having interviews as Mrs O'Loughlin is away at present. This will mean both Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th will be normal school days for Room 10.

Also, just a heads up in case you are not aware; there are some major roadworks going on at the Joll Road roundabout for the next two weeks. Lanes will be closed at certain times and we will keep you posted as more information comes to hand.
Have a great week everyone.
Ngā mihi

2021 PEAK TRAIL BLAZER ENTRIES OPEN
Entries are now open for the Peak Trail Blazer 2021. You can enter online HERE https://eventplus.net/PTB21
The Peak Trail Blazer is one of our main school fundraising events and is a lot of fun for our kids and families.
This year we are selling the t-shirts online through the entry website page and we have several package deals available for families. The Peak Trail Blazer T-shirts can be worn as school uniform in the fourth term and will be handed out to classrooms on the first day of term four. So please get entering and ordering your t-shirts. The support is much appreciated.
We will be running a t-shirt slogan competition again this year. Classrooms will get forms next week and your amazing slogan ideas can be popped in the box at the school office.
The Peak Trail Blazer is a fundraising event, which supports the school and a charity in the community. Over the past 11 years the event has raised over $200,000. This year 70% of the fundraising will go towards upgrading our school turf and the other 30% is going to support Re-Source, which is an amazing charity that keeps recyclables out of landfill and gives them to families in need in our community. Re-Source is growing by the day and they need help with storage and shelving, so the Peak Trail Blazer is getting right behind them. So please support the Peak Trail Blazer and ENTER now! Remember entries for the Tainui Trail are capped and sell out, so we encourage you to enter early.
If you would like to help support the event in anyway please contact Catherine Wedd on 0212886770 or peaktrailblazer@hnps.school.nz
