The townshend act of 1767
"The tea tax"
Why Townshend?
This act has been put in place to defray imperial expenses in the colonies. The French-Indian war left England in debt. We chose to tax tea and the other items because they are mostly used by colonists. This tax will help England regain it's former wealth. So do your part and pay these taxes!

Attention!
British soldiers do have permission to use search and seizure to collect these taxes. They may break in to your home if necessary, and may open any trunk, door, chest or package in order to make sure these taxes are fairly paid.
