Message from the Principal
Hello Pyle Families,
Thank you for all that you do to support Ernie Pyle. We are so thankful to be a part of the Pyle community!
Today staff and students enjoyed dressing as 'twins' to show how thankful we are for each other. School will be closed from November 21 to November 25. We will see you all on Monday, November 28. Have a wonderful week off for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thankful for Friends
Ernie Pyle staff and students dressed up as "twins' today to show that we are thankful for our friends. We are so grateful to have such an amazing community of kind and loving panthers. We hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Commonsense.org
In a world where our students have access to information at the touch of a button, we are working to prepare them to continue to make PAWSitive choices when online. The website
https://www.commonsense.org/education offers families resources and newsletters, information about movies, and best media lists for families. Please check out this information and discuss it with your students so that we can ensure that our students have the tools necessary to make great choices when in person and online.
Cafeteria Behavior Awards
Today four classes enjoyed a special lunchtime activity with our counselors. Each month students compete in the cafeteria by showing their PAWS and demonstrating great behavior. Congratulations to the students from Mrs. Meckelborg's class, Mrs. Dorman's class, Mr. Gaffney's class, and Mrs. Castaneda's class. Thank you for meeting our cafeteria PBIS expectations!
Writing Contest - Bring your words to life!
Ernie Pyle is having a writing contest. Please encourage your student to participate. Students are invited to write a story that will be submitted to a group of actors who will choose a story and act it out for the school. We cannot wait to see the amazing stories come to life. Submissions are due to the school office by December 16 at 1:00 pm.
Meet Mrs. Ashton - TK Teacher
Hello Pyle Families! I’m Mrs. Ashton, your TK teacher. I have been a teacher at Ernie Pyle for 27 years in grades Kindergarten- Third grade, and now the Transitional kindergarten teacher. I love my job and being able to see so much growth and progress over the years. Last year I was chosen as Bellflower’s Teacher of the Year, as well as LA county. It was a tremendous honor. I love being a part of the Pyle Community.
No Tardy Party
Every trimester the students at Ernie Pyle who did not have any Tardies are invited to a No Tardy Party. This year for the first trimester students will be able to enjoy a painting party at lunchtime on Thursday, December 1 (grades 1,2,5,6), or Friday, December 2 (grades k,3,4). If your student did not make it for this trimester there are still two more trimesters left for this attendance reward to be earned. Thank you to all of our families for helping your student come to school every day that your student is feeling well on time and ready to learn.
School Office
The school office is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:45 daily. If you need assistance with registration or have any questions please call the office at (562) 804-6528.
