Notes from Damita...It's March Madness
Welcome to Learning and Welcome to Success,
It's not just a "mantra" ...It's a FACT about #JROB Nation!
As I walk through classrooms each day, I am renewed with AWE around the tremendous amount of work you do to support academic success for our JROB Dolphins.
Students are engaged in grade level learning opportunities in which they are challenged to meet the rigors and demands of CCSS through focused instruction, guided models, collaboration with peers, technology mediums and independently. Clear daily learning intentions WHAT, WHY and HOW are moving us toward greater COHERENCE and ALIGNMENT in a majority of grade levels/departments.
Looking forward to another great week observing classrooms and providing feedback on student learning in response to instructional best practices. We will... ...March Madness our way to SPRING BREAK!!!

Mindfulness Morning Moments - Ms. Love continues to support Robinson with alternative ways to support emotional well being for staff and now students with Mindfulness. This week she will begin Morning Mindfulness to support several dolphins who need a space to regulate their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environments, through a gentle, nurturing lens. Each morning from 7:45 to 7:55, they will engage in varied exercises to support their well being toward success.

At Risk Conference documents: Please keep all signed parent documents from this past week's At Risk Conferences. I will ask for them once we get to late April in preparation of final retention conferences.
Reminders for staff:
Leaving your class unattended: Regardless of the circumstance, there must always be a credentialed person in a classroom. If you step away (even to go next door) this poses a safety issue. It only takes seconds to have a situation. If you have a need to step away, call the office for coverage or call a colleague. Keep in mind that the office makes every effort to protect instruction by not transferring calls.
Grade Level Collaboration Opportunities: 3/14, 3/21, 3/28
Why: “Collective teacher efficacy refers to a staff's shared belief that through their collective action, they can positively influence student outcomes, particularly for those students who are disengaged and/or disadvantaged.”

District Information......updates
C.A.R.E.S.: New DCFS Reporting System
DCFS has created a new non-urgent electronic reporting system called CARES (Child Abuse Reporting Electronic System). In lieu of calling the Hotline, mandated reporters will now have the option to make non-urgent reports of child abuse and neglect electronically. I have attached an informational flyer and FAQ document. If you have further questions, the following video is a tutorial: https://reportchildabusela.org/Help/Video. If you have any questions, please let Rima and I know.
LROIX Benchmark Correction Form
Good news! You'll no longer need to complete a Benchmark Correction Form to update a “No Pass” to a “Pass.” The Research Office sent you information sharing that changes are entered in the same manner as new entries, but you will need to make sure you update the “Test Date” column to reflect the current test date.
STOIC......Civility Rewind
The Safe and Civil Schools Team would like to remind our elementary teachers about the elementary recess protocol.
- Supervise all three areas: field, upper playground, primary playground. Areas should be closed if there is no supervision available.
- Please walk your students all the way out to the playground, get a visual on supervision, prior to leaving your class.
- Please practice walking quietly through hallways and common areas in preparation for SBAC testing.
The Safe and Civil School Team would like to remind our middle school teachers about hallway supervision protocols:
* Please be at your doors during passing period to supervise and greet all of our students.
Please refer to the slides on Google Classroom for detailed information.
Relationships and Positive Learning Environments
As we continue to focus on Warm and Demanding relationships with students, I want to share with you pieces of a document that I recently received that lists research based Equitable Classroom Practices. Read the following bullets and think about your strengths and possible actions where you can challenge yourself to support and enhance student success.
#1: ESTABLISHING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS
- Welcomes students by name as they enter the classroom
- Seeks to know something about each student; personalizes comments to students
- Uses proximity with high and low achieving students equitably
- Uses body language, gestures and expressions to convey a message that all students' questions and opinions are important
- Smiles, nods head in affirmation, leans toward the student
#2: ESTABLISHING A POSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
- Use class building and team building activities to promote peer support for academic
achievement
* Use cooperative learning structures to create a sense of team
* Establish a set of rules and procedures with students
* Creates a neat, appealing classroom for students
