Congratulations!
Moreau Heights has earned the Bronze recognition. This is a great honor given all the work done to improve supports for students.
165 Missouri public and charter schools will be recognized for exemplary implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS). SW-PBS is an evidence based, proactive
approach to teaching and reinforcing behavioral expectations in order to improve student
behavior, maximize instructional time, and increase student engagement.
Schools achieve the MO SW-PBS Recognition Award of Excellence after a rigorous review of
artifacts that represent the quality of their implementation of SW-PBS interventions, as well
as evidence that the framework has resulted in improved outcomes for students. The Bronze Recognition level is for implementation of Tier 1 Universal Interventions with fidelity.
Congratulations, Chargers!
Looking Ahead
2. First contracted day for most staff is August 14th. We will have our Opening Session that morning at the high school, then have time in classrooms. August 15th will be a full day of PD and planning for grade level teachers related our new math series (I have not heard exact plans for other teachers and staff for this day). August 16th will include a morning of school-based meetings and time in classrooms in the afternoon. You will want to plan accordingly, knowing the time you will have available.
3. Open House for 2017-18 will be August 15th from 4:00 - 6:00.
4. New math series teacher manuals will arrive in June. Please watch your email as Brian's office will notify people when they are in and offer pick up times and locations. This would be a great way to get an idea of sequencing and format prior to August.
End of Year Positivity and Celebrations!
In the final days of the school year, it's important more than ever to remember that You are the Driver of your Bus and it's your responsibility (no matter your title or level in the organization) to spread and share positivity.
Here are just a few ways to celebrate all of your team's success this year!
1. Celebrate the positive things that happened this year
It’s always a great idea to remind people of their accomplishments as you close out the school year. Hang a large sheet of chart paper and invite students to post one accomplishment they’ve had this year that makes them proud. R
2. Get adults/students up and moving!
Whether you do jumping jacks , take 1-2 minute breaks between activities, or play music. Releasing energy is an awesome way to spread energy.
3. Take advantage of Flexible Learning Areas
Every area of a school community should be a place of learning. Take your math or science class in the hallway of the school or outdoors. Extending learning beyond the walls of the classroom can be refreshing and gives everyone a change of scenery.
4. Student Teachers
Each day assign different students to teach a lesson they’ve learned this year.
Another great way for students to showcase their learning!
5. Fuel Someone’s Ride with Positive Energy
Take sticky notes and invite students to write kind messages to their peers. Receiving a positive message can make a person's day!
6. Create a Learning Journal! Have students reflect on their learning this past year. Each day pose questions that will provide opportunities for them to share the knowledge they’ve gained this year. Here are a few questions to get you started.
o What was your best experience this year? Why?
o In what area/subject did you improve the most? How did you accomplish this?
o What was the hardest thing for you this year? How did you overcome this challenge?
o What goals would you like to pursue for next year?
o What steps will you take to reach these goals?
o What are you most excited about for the next school year?
7. Want more positivity- bring it!! Be innovative and use your own creativity to find ways to celebrate the year and have fun!
