Newsletter Week of November 29, 2021

Dear NRHS Community,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful Thanksgiving holiday and break. I had the pleasure of hosting Thanksgiving this year and saw family I have not been able to see since before COVID began. It was a special weekend with loved ones. We are in the home stretch prior to December vacation, which begins on Thursday December 23rd.

Reminder that winter sports begin today and tomorrow we will continue our Routine COVID Safety Checks during long block in the lower gym.

Have a wonderful week Nashoba!

Best,

Dr. Kathleen Boynton, principal

Resource for Parents from BRYT

NRHS is partnering with BRYT (Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition) out of Brookline, MA to create a program to support students returning to school from long term absences. One key component of the program is family engagement. While we are in the planning stages, the parent resources are open to all and free of charge. Below is information about the parent support groups and a video about supporting students return to school in what is still not a "normal" school year.

Pathway to Mask Optional at NRHS

On Tuesday 11/30 we begin day 2 of Routine COVID Safety Checks - formerly known as Pooled Testing. This is one means to potentially requesting to the Boards of Health to go Mask Optional at NRHS. We currently have close to 600 people (students and staff) who have opted in to the Safety Checks. We are conducting them during long block in the lower gym. The procedure is quick and easy and will provide critical information for the COVID dashboard which, combined with our high rate of vaccination, could provide a pathway to mask optional. I encourage everyone who has signed the consent to participate. Any questions, please contact the health office.

NRHS Electronic Hallpass Pilot

This week NRHS launched its pilot of the electronic hall pass system used at some of our other Nashoba District schools. The electronic system provides students autonomy to use their chromebooks to create their own passes when leaving a classroom to visit bathrooms, the library, or other destinations within the building. Students log into myhomeworkapp.com with their NRSD email address to use the platform. Students and staff are encouraged to provide feedback via a shared google form throughout the soft roll-out period of the pilot, which will conclude this Tuesday before Thanksgiving break and we will be seeking student and staff feedback the week after Thanksgiving.
