Hawaii Community Foundation Medical Research Program 2020 - Round 2
The areas of focus for this grantmaking opportunity include:
- Clinical/basic research – Alzheimer’s disease, mental or physical diseases related to old age
- Clinical/basic research – cancer; or heart disease
- Clinical/basic research – immunology, genetics, or the medicinal uses of Hawaiian plants
- Clinical/basic research – prevent blindness, with particular emphasis on macular degeneration
- Clinical/basic research – type I diabetes (juvenile diabetes)
- Research infrastructure

- Sweet Revenge will temporarily close until the campus is able to open up more.
- Coffee, pastries, and pre-ordered pies will be available at Pur Sina on a daily basis.
- Pur Sina will have several grab and go items for breakfast but no longer offer made to order items. Lunch will remain the same.
School year child care available
Hawaii Children's Discovery Center has the unique ability to help with child care needs during the school day for essential workers. They are opening their classrooms to support your child with his/her distance learning work, provide outdoor play breaks, and provide enrichment activities when your child is not actively doing distance learning. Enrollment would be limited to 12 children in each classroom. Private child care groupings may be available with a minimum of 5 children.

About the presenter: Melba J. T. Vasquez, PhD, ABPP was elected president of the American Psychological Association in 2011, the first woman of color to hold that position. During her term as president, Dr. Vasquez initiated task forces to address immigration, discrimination, prejudice and educational disparities. In 2017, Dr. Vasquez received an APA Presidential Citation for her "indefatigable leadership dedicated to the profession of psychology and those it serves."
